That's your perogative to think that, but with the new players getting their first big test no way was I expecting anything less than a defeat and no I don't accept it, but we are starting this season at a very low point after years of regression with our squad. The league cup games were good pre season games for us, but no indication of how we will cope in the league.
I expect to see a better performance from the team the next time we play them at their place, by which time I expect us to have been moulded into something resembling a team.
If he does poor (Goodwin) in the first round of matches he will struggle to see out the season. Getting beat off Celtic the way we did was terrible but I fully expect us to win against any of the other teams we come up against. We cannot afford to sit off teams and let them dominate the ball. I am sure I heard Goodwin and some players talk about being a team who will dominate the ball, have a lot of energy and have plenty speed. We looked anything but at the weekend…so I don’t want to see the same mistake the rest of the season.
This time last year we had seen off some Euro trash, just beaten DU fairly easily 2-0 in first league game, and guess what, expectations went through the roof! I remember the SS guys debating how poor Utd had been in that game, their fans weren't happy at all, and it was going to be a long hard season for them with the jury very much out on their rookie new manager. Look how all that turned out. I see similarities already this season with some easy league cup games replacing some easy euro games and I'm reading predictions of 4-0, 3-0, 3-1 etc for Saturday. I didn't like the way Raith carved through us at times at Pittodrie at all. No easy games in this league, for us anyway. None.
Last season we had two teams that outspent everyone else by a factor of at least ten plus they get every refereeing decision going. You then had a hertz team that were decent enough. After that you had nine teams, including us of various levels of utter dross, some marginally less dross than others.
The top two look at a pretty similar level this year (including debatable refereeing decisions no doubt), hertz have probably got a bit stronger but will struggle with the Thursday night/ Sunday afternoon cycle pre world cup break and will drop points accordingly.
Of the other nine, we look as though we should be quite a bit stronger and United have made some good signings but the rest look as though they will be at similar levels of utter dross as last season.
Based on that I will be severely disappointed if we don't have a number of comfortable victories starting on Saturday against St Mirren.
I asked Aberdeen to get Jim Goodwin to sign a top I bought…wonder if he will oblige.
If we don’t beat St.Mirren on Saturday will he get another free pass because it’s only the 2nd league match of the season?
Jimbo jimbo is starting to piss me off but I'll give tje c u n t time exactly 10 weeks no less no more!
