    Event was rugby 7’s

No scrums, no line outs, no static mauls, no heeling in a mark, and by definition 7 a side.

Basically running up and down the pitch.

    How does that damage it?
Watched some of the rugby last week and commented on the state of the pitch. Don't think the rugby is the problem. The grass looked threadbare and the ground very hard. It also looked like it had been raked with some sort of agricultural machine. Could see then that without a lot of watering it was going to be a problem.

I read on Twitter an article from the Coventry Telegraph, Robins was not very happy with how it's been handled. As people on here have stated, this was organised yonks ago so why as it ended like?

Very interesting point from MR, "the pitch should have been relaided BEFORE the Rugby 7's played on it." Why it hasn't he wouldn't say or point the finger. Also said they were a concert at the stadium before the Rugby.

Wait until Wasps start digging it up in the winter.............

It’s hard to see how it can get any better as the season progresses

That’s what happens when you only rent the ground…and with the EFL”s whiskey and revolver tactics threatening them to sign a deal or face being kicked out of league last summer..

Bizarrely if the match goes ahead we will be playing them when the pitch is at its best.

Better to play now so gives Ogbene a chance at running at players, plus Feguson down the left flank.l Like Avondale says wait until Wasps start playing òn the pitch. Coventry City are the tenants, like we were at Don Valley, & in one respect Millmoor when Booths sons took control.

Why not have the pitch inspection at 1pm instead of 6pm? The team would normally be setting off at lunchtime day before the match. The Port Vale match was re arranged for Wednesday from Tuesday to accommadate playing Cov on Sunday. We could try to bring forward that fixture back to Tuesday but Vale have every right to say no to that. It's a complete shamble because if we don't play we've got to re arrange the fixture and if we do play there's a chance of injuries. The EFL should be asking questions why it has come to this sorry mess.

Yes I was thinking the same.

Usually with dodgy pitches there's a chance of minor improvement if left, waterlogged for example.

But with this one nothing will change during the day so why a late inspection is odd.

Maybe if it's the original ref doing the inspection and not a local one then maybe he needs travel time.

Would be a good idea if an EFL rep also goes if only for the expenses claim
