I read this with great sadness and a lump in my throat.

Mum and dad loved The Seekers and I grew up loving their songs which I still regularly play.

I had the pleasure of seeing them live at the NEC when I took my parents in the late 90’s and they were still a wonderful sound.

Judith suffered a brain injury a few years ago so I’m not altogether surprised to hear this but it’s very sad.

One of musics most recognisable and beautiful voices.

    RIP Judith.

Great song! Bet you would have loved the pleasure of Judith when she was singing that song! A stunner!

Another icon of 60’s music gone. She had a fantastic voice. I believe that the brain injury that Mick referred to was a stroke, from which she more or less recovered. Had sadness in her life too, lost her husband to the dreadful MND.

    Judith Durham, RIP.

Echo your sentiments entirely Mick. Judith Durham had such a recognisable great voice and I clearly recall my mother singing along to pretty much all the Seekers hits played on the Family Favourites radio show on Sundays in the mid-60s. We had Irish relations living in Australia and they always said the Seekers brought so much attention to their country. Very sad news indeed. RIP.

I have spent quite a bit of time today just listening to her voice...a very distinctive voice, a bit like Karen Carpenter had...

Quite a few people compared her voice to Karen Carpenter but can't see it myself. Both were great vocalists though and, like yourself, have been prompted to listen to some of her songs again today. Maybe I'm getting old but so many singers of the 60s and 70s sound so much better than those of today. Maybe it's just production techniques?

Would have a big part to play I'm sure.
But my young nephew even noticed that songs had better words to them back then, then today.
Or it could be a generational thing. I am not knowingly a musical person.

Hey lads, I agree with you all, even though she/they weren't my so called age of music (but what does that mean exactly ehh). I wish more modern day music was as enjoyable and easy listening, like Judith and her group were.
Ive already played The Carnival is over on my Jukebox thread today (on Tykesmad lol), so heres another one of theirs I do also like.
