Forts? Fears more like. The longer we are down here the more chance of something going wrong. Owners deciding to take up a new hobby, seepage of support going across the Trent (will they have room after the stadium expansion?). Anyway which League 6 would we go in? We always find a way of visiting as many divisions as possible.

As for that possible scenario all are distinct possibilities. The Red D*gs are certainly throwing the kitchen sink (and laundry money) at staying up. Although it's 50:50 at best for me at present.

As you are probably already know Mansfailed were one of the favourites for promotion before a ball was kicked, unsurprising after reaching last season's playoff final.

They've done their traditional slow start to a season which is no surprise but Clough Junior has it in him to get on a real roll and could easily finish in the far more generous top 3.

As for us, Top 7 with a post season lottery .... again
Nah, I think we'll still make 5th, but fail again. It just seems to me we get less convincing, (as a candidate for promo), with every season that passes and we don't see anything put in place that will halt that slide.

It's not physical (fitness) or he would have said, and it isn't attitude, so that leaves technical and tactical.

Not covering enough ground, not getting back (or forward quickly/often enough)?
Wrong positioning and choices with the ball in the patterns of play?
    Poor delivery on final ball?
Not covering/marking correctly in the defensive scheme?

Wild stabs in the dark are all we're left with. Let's hope TAR reacts positively to this and wants to show LW, his team mates, and the fans that it's worry over nothing and that he's the best wing-back at the club (not the most difficult title to take).
You have missed out one highly possible scenario. Maybe he is having difficulty in settling in the area. Maybe he has relationship problems. Maybe he has family concerns.
None of our business but if his head is in the wrong place he needs some time to sort it.

If we had any real intentions of getting out of this league we would have gone for a manager with proven ability at this level . Instead we have gone for the cheap out of work option in the hope we can pull a rabbit out of the hat.. Controversial as it may be, but we needed someone like James Rowe to get us out... Wait for the backlash....

    Not for me thanks

Really can't see why all the negativity. Of course there are real intentions to get out of this league.

Looking forward to tomorrow, and whatever the score, as long as we give it a real go, that will be ok.

The crux of it is that the regular posters who have this issue have had it since the brothers have taken over. They don't like the approach. It doesn't matter who we sign or appoint. The response will be the same because it's not the way things were done back in their day.

I fear you could be right Russ , but a truly hope you aren't, and are doing them a disservice.

I wonder if they don't like the approach purely because it hasn't resulted in promotion to date? That's the easy , valid and very simplistic answer. Or are there other reasons, I've read again that some doubt that the owners have the desire and ambition to get promoted and make the club successful. I still can't get an answer as to why they feel that way? What their barometer is, but I know they must have their reasons. Interested to hear them

The thing is Russ, it doesn't make any difference who we appoint as head coach, nothing on the pitch ever changes. We concede soft goals virtually every game, Our corner kicks always end up in the hands of the keeper, We seldom win any 1st or 2nd balls and our midfield has been short of a physical presence since we have been in this league. Until these issues are addressed then it is only natural that some will think the worst..

To be fair, the one thing you can’t accuse our owners of is penny pinching. Would we have hung on to Wootton for so long if they were more concerned about the money? They have dug deep into their pockets since becoming owners!
