So Brooksy is good enough for Nat League N/S, (remind me where our 2 forwards came from), but not good enough to be our reserve keeper? So we're gonna pay, (I'm assuming we'll be liable for some part of his wages) a young lad, (who I would imagine has less experience than Brooksy of 1st team football), to sit on our bench/in the stands as a reserve keeper. Phew, I'm glad you've cleared that up for me.
He is good enough to be our reserve keeper, but players develop better when they actually play. You can't really play as a reserve keeper unless your number 1 is out so when would he play? Brookes gets first team experience and development whilst we have Slocombe and this new player as cover which allows Brookes to purely concentrate on his time playing football.
I imagine the manager knows what stage Brooks is at and what he needs rather than us on here who have no idea.
Tonight's games:
Chessie 3-1 Barnet.
Oldham 2-1 Aldershot.
Chessie top, 5pts clear of Notts in 11th.
Quite. All this ‘pushing Slocombe’ business is hopefully nonsense. I hope Brad Young has signed because the club thinks he’s a better keeper than Slocombe and we’re more likely to get promoted with him in the side. I certainly don’t think Slocombe is good enough. (Which is unfortunate because he seems like a top lad who gives his all for the cause).
