I think Huddersfield maybe was trying him out before sending him out again, we’d already fetched one in before they decided to can’t blame us

    That’s obviously imo

Sorry just seen your post Riley to which I agree

It’s not the Reg move that concerns me ! But on a day that 120 players changed clubs we could not find one player to strengthen our midfielder or attack which we have been looking to strengthen ? for the last few weeks ! Some of last years better players moved clubs including Anthony Scully and Plymouths Camera, both players which caused us problems last year and would have given us a much needed lift .
In my opinion we are short of a striker, a quality midfielder, preferably left footed and some more ability down the left hand side, don’t think Fergusson who has great ability but lacking in speed and power and Bramall will be good enough, not least because they are both injury prone.

Surely we have not spent anywhere near our budget ??

No idea what budget is/was but we’ve fetched 10 players in

But have about the same number of players as last year so unless they are getting paid more ! If we had signed Smith and Icky on the big money would that have limited our transfers even more ? I don’t believe we are spending much more if any than last year despite the increase in EFL money and Tony increasing the budget ?

Scattergun criticism without knowing the facts seems to be the default setting nowadays. There could be many reasons REG has not re-joined us, including the very reasonable one suggested by Grist.

Are players paid more playing in a higher division? That is a tough one.

On reflection it does sound harsh saying recruitment missed a trick, however, we’ve missed a good proven player so something went wrong somewhere.

Saying he might not have wanted to come I find it hard to believe considering the success he had while with us last time. You might as well say yes he would have resigned if we’d have approached him, it’s one we’ll never know.

It is correct to say that the recruitment team have done a very good job pre season and have helped bring players in of a much better quality.

If we haven't signed anyone by the middle of June, people moan, saying all the good players have been taken, even though contracts don't terminate until end June.

If we complete all our business by the end of July in time for the start of the season and don't make any last minute panic buys on deadline day, people still moan.

That’s football for you. It drives all the emotions some good, some bad and some just about right.

At start of the season what do you think Edmonds-Green was worth? How he finished last season I'd say £1 million. Doubt we'd have paid that. He started the season in 1st eleven for them but didn't keep his place. By the time he came available right side of our defence we had adequate cover. Move on. I'd have had him back here permanently but not to be.
