I'm not upset, I find the whole pompousness and ridiculousness of it quite funny, but I am bitter at the notion that we are told that these billionaires people are magically better than the working people of this country and we're supposed to automatically honour and respect them, that just is dumb to me. Respect and power should be earned.

I'll stop being bitter and complaining about it when this ridiculous institution is abolished.

    Totally agree

I think people's perceptions of why the world is so ****ed up is predominantly determined by the news media we digest, be that the Mail, the Mirror or all of those lovely Facebook pages and extreme news outlets that people like to be indoctrinated by.

Media have always been that way, it is social media that gives idiots a platform

True, but you would expect the BBC to remain impartial

I would have thought you would have been in seventh-heaven with the BBC's wall-to-wall coverage of everything to do with the monarchy.

The Beeb is clearly terrified of not pleasing the Tories and their supporting organs - Mail / Torygraph /Sun / Murdoch

Well you would be wrong. I'm finding the whole thing now very tedious and over repeated

I'm not really a royalist but I know dedication when I see it.

"God save the Queen" ticks every single wrong box for me, but there's an undeniable poignancy to the Queen dying. You'd have to be an alien not to feel this. I guess it's the longevity of her reign and the quiet unassuming way she earned respect, even from die hard republicans. The woman was unique there's no denying it... and therein lies the problem. Charles is clearly going to be very different. For starters, you could never imagine the Queen making such a public display of annoyance with her staff. Charles will be much more outspoken and will be unable to keep his mouth shut. He's never been shy to bang on about climate change for example. This won't go down well with the current government. It will be interesting to see how things pan out.

Royalists will suck it up - warts and all - whoever inherits the throne, but when all the dust has settled, there will be a lot more people questioning the value and relevance of the monarchy. Troubled times ahead for HRH I think.

How do you reconcile that view to the punters on the far left who also feel that the BBC is biased towards he right?
