    O/T Lied to again

I don't believe a single word anymore what the Borough Council have to say about this old run down town being redeveloped.

It's now been reported that the Outdoor Market project, although having been granted £10 million towards redeveloping it, has now been suspended and put on hold. Due to unforeseen circumstances because 'Rare materials' can't be sourced, the build has to stop. What a pathetic excuse....who's thought of that one?

Add to this it's now been recalculated and another £9 Million is now required to finish the project. I feel that's the reason. Either you can source 'rare materials' or you can't, make your mind up!

Is it 'rare materials' or because some clown can't calculate a job? Just who is in charge of this utter disgrace and shambles?

given the same thing happens time and again, it makes you wonder who is putting together the costs and what contingencies they have

I don’t know the specifics of the case Brin, it is a shame and not sure what materials are needed, but I do work with manufacturers (of electrical products) and the supply chain is nuts at the mo, some components are 20x last year’s price, and prices aren’t set until delivery as lead times are often in excess of 12 months so all very volatile and hard to plan. Ooor, that might not be the reason and someone is just being rubbish!

harpo88, thanks for your post. I understand the mass rise in costs etc but, to be suddenly saying they need another £9 Million to complete is just not sitting right with me. To throw on top that it's also been stopped due to 'rare', I hope I heard that right and it's not 'raw' materials, either way it's just another excuse from RMBC.

Maybe that's why they're extending the dig site on forge island? Owt for an excuse not to complete a project. What's happening with the garden complex in High Street? That should have been finished this year.

Now been re worded to read ‘scarce base materials’. Don’t know exactly what they’re using for base work but surely this is just a smokescreen for incompetence.

You’d be surprised how architects control projects once they’re given contracts.
It could actually be a blessing in disguise that they’ve been able to go back to the drawing board.

One thing is sure. Not one of the councillors will have enough experience to look at and understand the drawings, the implications involved not being able to get the materials and certainly the contracts written.

Councillors make decisions on information given to them.

Or, as in the case of Child ***ual Exploitation, ignore information given to them over many years
