If you’re not prepared to risk it….. you will be who you are.

We seem to be having an outbreak of 'massivitis' at times. We're where we are as a result of excellent team management from the former staff but any prospective manager will be examining what Stewart will tell them we have to spend (again without endangering our existence) and it isn't hard to work out that it will be a hell of a challenge to even keep us in the league, even for a very good manager. I'm sure even Warne knew that he was punching above his weight and he was only a losing run away from losing his job with us. Three defeats in a row and this board would be knives out for him, we know this. Likewise, I'm sure any manager would have to question whether the stock they have built could be easily lost with us at this stage. Ironically we might have more chance of getting managers like Bonner if we were rebuilding in league 1.

And then there is the relocation and family situation.

Let's face it, our budget, unless we start playing risks, is that of a top 10 league 1 club. Some of us might be in denial about that, but a new manager, inspecting who we are, where we are and what we've got is likely to be much more objective. Hopefully Matt gives us a go as he seems very well thought of by Exeter as a talented young manager.

As for those saying we have to get someone established at this level: WHO??? And if they're established at this level, wouldn't a team that call pay 5 times our wages and 5 times our squad budget ( Hull, Huddersfield etc) already be snapping them up??
Isn’t our budget more of a mid table league 1 team?

He was interviewed after their game he did not say he had been offered the job . The BBC reporter asked him if he had contact with Rotherham to which he replied yes I have got some thinking to do over the weekend . They then asked him further questions but not once did he say he had been offered the job but that is the headline on BBC sport . He was very appreciative about Exeter and everyone at the club but I believe he sounded as though he wants to come, in my opinion of course .

Who do you think that should be and how do you define "experienced?"
All i know from the various interviews is that we had around 60 applicants, I define experienced as someone that has managed at Championship level for at least a season.
I do not know the list of applicants and neither do you, so not possible to tell you who out of the 60 i would have liked to have seen.
If this bloke comes then I hope he does well, I do agree with others on here we need to stay up this season

So what do you think we should do if none of the applicants have managed for a full season at championship level?

But you say we must have one in the dugout for Wednesday. Where are you going to get him from?

Wouldn't the job description as manager of Rotherham United be to over achieve on a modest budget irrespective of championship experience .

Taylor in my opinion seems to have done that very well at Exeter City who are a fan owned club with an extremely modest budget plus reside in an extremely geographically football challenged area .

Can't be easy attracting players on modest wages to do all that travelling in this day and age .
