And Exeter City say he has been offered the job.
In the last couple of hours our website has been updated to say we have interviewed him and talks are ongoing.

Radio Devon asked HIM about the job. The Exeter fans seem to regard him as honest and straight talking, so maybe he just answered the question in as diplomatic a way as he could without outright lying?, ie “I’m off up north on Monday but straight after the final whistle is not the time to announce it”. That’s my interpretation anyway, to go along with the one that some Madsters can’t wait to take a negative view about everything.

    We shall see, anyways.

    Warne accepted the offer.

Warne said nothing and TS told Scott to look for a replacement.

Derby released the info before we did
You may be right but Warne didn't 'walk' the press through his own personnel thoughts throughout the process.Look, everyone can dress this up which ever way they want but some one tell me another scenario where a manager has said....''I've been offered a job but I need the weekend to think about it before I make my choice''.

We can confirm that initial talks have taken place and remain ongoing.

Rotherham United will be making no further comment at this time."

Exeter, on the other hand, have made the mess:

"Exeter City Football Club can confirm an approach was received from Rotherham United to speak to manager Matt Taylor late this week.

The club reluctantly agreed to the request and we await confirmation from Matt regarding his decision as to whether he will accept Rotherham's offer.

A further statement will be released once more information is available."

Matt Taylor has also said pretty much the same thing to, amongst others, the BBC.

Unless I've missed something, Exeter need their knuckles rapping for this...and Taylor is well out of line.
    100% agree with this CT

To be fair Jimmy I read the first line of your post saying “My main point to opening this thread”.

I didn’t read the rest as I thought the main point would be to tell us that Matt Taylor has been offered the job.

That's what I thought, but doesn't seem to fit the narrative of some.

We seem to be having an outbreak of 'massivitis' at times. We're where we are as a result of excellent team management from the former staff but any prospective manager will be examining what Stewart will tell them we have to spend (again without endangering our existence) and it isn't hard to work out that it will be a hell of a challenge to even keep us in the league, even for a very good manager. I'm sure even Warne knew that he was punching above his weight and he was only a losing run away from losing his job with us. Three defeats in a row and this board would be knives out for him, we know this. Likewise, I'm sure any manager would have to question whether the stock they have built could be easily lost with us at this stage. Ironically we might have more chance of getting managers like Bonner if we were rebuilding in league 1.

And then there is the relocation and family situation.

Let's face it, our budget, unless we start playing risks, is that of a top 10 league 1 club. Some of us might be in denial about that, but a new manager, inspecting who we are, where we are and what we've got is likely to be much more objective. Hopefully Matt gives us a go as he seems very well thought of by Exeter as a talented young manager.

As for those saying we have to get someone established at this level: WHO??? And if they're established at this level, wouldn't a team that call pay 5 times our wages and 5 times our squad budget ( Hull, Huddersfield etc) already be snapping them up??
