Told you what I know I'm a form man same on the horses. With millers we are 2 or 3 players short of a guaranteed staying up side. Another centre back Left wing back Forward all 3 required but by time we can sign anyone another 16 games will have been played so got to go with what we've got get best out of them.

What he lacked in technical and tactical ability he more than made up for in how he got the best out of players. His ethos in how he managed the club, at all levels, seemingly got everyone performing at their best.

That nice guy, good human being thing was derided by many, described as "building a brand" by others but it got us success and much more cheaply than some of the bigger clubs around us. I use SWFC as an example because they are on our doorstep. But in the same time frame that Warne managed us, they spent vastly more money than us and went through six managers. They haven't achieved as much as we have. Warne wasn't perfect but his style of doing things, being able to build a solid team without individual stars, to be able to spot ability with players and bring them on, it all worked for RUFC within the very tightly controlled budget we have.

The team performance yesterday felt like we lost that extra motivation and exposed the limitations we have. We seemed like a bunch of church goers who were suddenly questioning their faith because their vicar turned out to be a con man. Players who's contracts are up soon who would have still dug in for Warne looked as though they were going through the motions, already moved on mentally. Players who came here because Warne sold the club to them seemed to be questioning why they bothered. The caretaker managers tried to keep things EXACTLY as Warne would have done them but managed to emulate nothing but his worst habits (ie not subbing Wiles, playing hoofball up to Washington, waiting too long to bring Kelly on).

The only way this club can survive at this level and within the responsible budget set by Tony Stewart is to get that positive mentality back and continue to play as a team. A team of players who'd run through brick walls for their manager. It's a tough ask and whoever gets the gig is going to need 100% support from all of us.
Your looking for a manager who isn't going to change things too much , a tweak here and there is fine .

Building on what Warne did at best but replicating it at worst .

The danger is that someone will come in and want to put his own mark on things just because of their ego .

This is what happened to us last season , the new HC came in and looked at the 5th placed championship finish and concluded we must be able to play a bit , started playing out from the back and trying to play possession based football .

It was a catastrophe , Val knew we couldn't play so we played a high press , high intensity and long ball game that championship clubs just couldn't handle , the truth is we were shyte but it got the results .

However TS isn't stupid and I'm sure he will know full well what he needs to ensure a smooth transition from Warne .

Not many people back the club from what I hear at home games.

pip_y, he'll already know, announcement tomorrow me thinks

Get it out in the open and let's have him in the dugout for Wednesday night so the lads can see someone is in full charge. They will all dig in extra deep to impress the new Sheriff in town.

    2-0
