There are lot's of scroungers, but they aren't all at the bottom of society. Programmes like benefit street are designed to get the working class to turn against each other instead of looking at the real drain on the country. Sadly many of you are brainwashed into thinking this way. Some who have worked their way up to a good standard of living seem to be the first to put the boot into the less fortunate since they obviously feel they no longer belong to that class.
    Snobs are made not born.
It's far easier to shop old Joe who signs on and does a bit on the side, (the b astard), than it is to point the finger at someone like say Sir Nigel, who fiddles millions and has lawyers and advisers to keep him out of the public eye.
Keep watching the TV and reading the Tory owned papers and believe you are something better.
It's nice to pretend isn't it?

Agree with a lot of that!

I loathe scroungers too . For many years when I was working shed loads of hours and we were struggling financially (as my wife had given up her job to care for our youngest) the pub up the road was always full of people who never worked but always had money to splash on booze or the latest mobile and even holidays abroad! Never got the argument trotted out that to investigate individual cases would be too expensive as surely it would only take a few regular prosecutions to deter others more and the money would be re-couped?.

The point though, is that although we probably all know of such people, they are the minority of benefit claimants. Yes, they certainly need dealing with (although the root problems will often be socio-economic and harder to rectify)but the Right are more than happy to stir up anger against these wasters because it deflects from the far bigger issue in the country which is the growing inequality in wealth distribution. Which is worse small time benefit fraud or big time tax avoidance? Equally wrong to me.

There’s generations of certain families from my schooldays who’ve never done a days work Des.

Keep defending them though if you wish.

These people are stealing money from the deserving.

Look at what I wrote about my father in laws house, I suppose there could be an argument in favour of these people!?

Totally agree with this Des! The worst people in my eyes are those who are called scum bags done well who now think they are above everyone but forget their roots and upbringing. I have more time for wealthy people who have always had money and invest in their kids education but don’t brag about it. Usually scum bags done well with millions have bling - fancy cars and FFS still send their kids to s hit schools and then wonder why they have not had the luck they had. Getting good qualifications is not luck and those people deserve success.

Yes there are scroungers but there are millions who are on benefits who are genuine and even with two jobs but still can’t get their heads above water. You can’t tar everyone with the same brush. Even if I was super wealthy my kids would not be allowed to be reliant on me for a penny as my view is a child should make their own fortune and luck through education and hard work. I gave most of my inheritance from my mother to charity and have already said to my kids not to be reliant on anything when I’m gone.

You've been played Mick but I suspect deep down you know that but double down none the less .

Unfortunately for you the Tory mask has slipped these last 9 days and revealed what the real truth is .

I perfectly understand your anger over those that don't work and partly agreed with you that these people do exist , none the less you didn't get back to me on whether you yourself would employ such people who are basically unemployable , I take it as read that's for someone else to do just as long as it's not you .

The Tory mask has slipped , they didn't and never did care about you in the first place , they captured your vote by telling you that you were different , homeowner , good income I suspect , decent motor and nice holidays and to emphasis the point they gave a good kicking to the low paid and made them your enemy .

Now they have you in their sights because middle England is going to get the biggest kicking out of everyone , they'll transfer your money to the richest 5% and they won't even blink .

    You voted for this .

    These feckless w a n k e r s don’t want to work even when offered a job!

This year we’ve given jobs to two long term unemployed who did one day and never turned up again!

I later found out this is how they get to stay on top benefits, by “showing willing” on the jobs front.

So in answer to your question, yes, I have tried giving work to long term unemployed with “problems” so just what is your point!?

The minute a landlord steps onto the land of the property it can be used against you as "harassment' and you yourself then end up in court.

I'm not a stupid man, I know "people" and I know how things used to be done and how it gets done in films but this is real life and unless you're a hard nosed criminal yourself and you don't care about going to prison and being in court etc then the option isn't viable.

Those coming in on dinghies would love to work to show their gratitude to the country and pay every penny back of the taxpayers money! Anyone got an address of the warm accommodation they are staying in with hot meals?

Fair enough , not going to argue with that but it kind of emphasises my point doesn't it , unemployable is unemployable and some people can't be reached .

Like it or not but the taxpayer has to give them some sort of income otherwise they'll simply nick things to survive .

For all you know they may be more than grateful to earn a living here and contribute to this country like many migrants before them have and continue to do .
