My dear Dons, as you might know i live in Bavaria just south of the city Augsburg.
Since a long time I support FC Augsburg and have a season ticket, also my two children. There were ups and downs, but the club did hold the class in the 1. Bundesliga since 13 years in a row now and developed well, a new stadium for 42 Mio. € built in 2012 with a capacity of 30.600, new training grounds, a youth camp, club office and much more. Great infrastructure.

Augsburg is the third biggest city in Bavaria with a bit more than 300.000 inhabitants.
Aberdeen is the third biggest city in Scotland with aproximately 220.000 inhabitants.
Augsburg is the poorest city in Bavaria if you believe latest statistics.
Aberdeen is the richest city in Scotland after all what I know.
FC Augsburg is a rather small club in the Bundesliga with (22000 members)
FC Aberdeen was the no. 1 in Scotland in the 1980th when i discovered the Dons
FC Augsburg’s team has a market worth of around 100 Mio. €
FC Aberdeen’s team has a market worth of around 10 Mio. €
FC Augsburg built a new stadium for 30.600 fans
FC Aberdeen is just talking-talking since years
FC Augsburg has an average visitors number of fans around 28.000
FC Aberdeen this season until now around 13.000

I could go on with comparing of these two places which simply are comparable in my eyes…

So what the hell is going wrong in Aberdeen that it’s football club has such a bad condition and it even gets worse all the time?! This city with it’s economic strength must be able to host a more successful football club than AFC is now and since many years…

Please don’t get me wrong, I do not want to bore anybody here or hurt anybody feelings, forgive me for bringing me into this discussion and comparing the two clubs, but I deeply believe there is not only the same name “FCA” but there is more in common as I tried to explain and nevertheless I will keep Aberdeen in my heart and hoping there will come better times soon.

I still remember the great time that I had with the Dons in 2007 when a few thousands came to Munich for the Euroleague match against FC Bayern and the Augustiner in the city centre was full with Dons in a friendly atmosphere and also the support in the Allianz Arena. OK, it was a clear 5:1 for Bayern after a draw 2:2 at Pittodrie but at that time AFC was at least able to be a halfway good opponent for them, but this is long gone… FC Augsburg won in a great game against them at home 3 weeks ago 1:0 – not for the first time…

All the very best for Aberdeen FC and stand free, wherever you might be – also me in Bavaria.
