What a bizarre way to run a football club. Keep it up Marinakis!

I caught the last 20 minutes of the game against Villa on Monday and it was turgid stuff - a reminder of how many attritional, unattractive games there are in the Premier League between struggling sides desperate to avoid relegation.

I wonder how enjoyable the experience must actually be for fans of these clubs in the bottom half (being given the runaround by the top sides, with little hope of competing; scrapping for points against rival mediocrities). Ditto those yo-yoing between the Premier League and the Championship like Norwich and Watford. But this is the set-up the Premier League has willingly created.

I’d rather be where they are instead of watching Notts beat Woking in front of 3k fans.

It’s not a Premier League creation. It’s been around for decades that clubs will find a natural division to be in that is tough. Look at the league we are in at the moment, teams with dosh at the top end, teams with no dosh struggling at the bottom - Torquay included.
It’s been said on here that our ‘Natural’ league position is probably L1 - with some saying bottom part of Championship. Would any of us take a season or 2 watching Notts scrap for points to stay in the Championship? In a heart beat IMO. I’d say Forest are Championship, bottom part of Prem. That’s not hindsight, it’s decades being one of the biggest clubs in the Championship. It was always likely at some point they’d hit jackpot, and they have.

What price hitting the jackpot, though? For Forest fans, lots of Monday night football and, so far at least, very little to cheer. That might change given how many mediocre teams there are below the top six/seven clubs, but is it too outlandish to claim that a neutral might see more entertaining football from the home team at Meadow Lane than the City Ground this season?

I know Sheffield United fans who say they prefer being in the Championship to the Premier League. At least there they're likely to see their team win and play attacking football there; in the Premier League, it's invariably backs-to-the-wall stuff. And as someone else suggested, how much fun do Southampton fans actually get from seeing their team scrape by each season? Wolves seem to have settled into a similar rut as well.

ML and the CG will have games that are entertaining. Take our last 2 home games as a small sample size. The Wrexham game IMO opinion would have been entertaining as it had almost everything. I would suspect it was on a par with Forests victory against WHU (who hit the word work a few times). Ahhh then there was little old Altrincham… fcuk me was that a poor game to watch in which Notts plodded to a victory thanks to a 5 minute spell in the first half.
I’d ask your Sheff Utd mates at what point in the season of winning games they’d want to lose games to make sure they don’t get promoted. I suspect they sing along about being promoted, especially at the moment. Personally I think it’s BS that any fan of any football club doesn’t want there team to be promoted in case they get battered week in week out. Also ask your Sheff Utd mates also how they finance the winning Championship football they are watching at the minute - if they say anything other than Premier League money they are lying.
I suspect if we ran a poll of what division would you like to watch Notts play in - realistic fans would probably say L1. Then there are those like me who would love nothing more than to see Notts at the top table - I don’t demand it, but everyone has a dream right?

I suspect most of us would love to see Notts at the top table but for many including myself that would come with the proviso of if we could compete. My worst nightmare is watching vastly overpaid players, who in the main couldn't give a toss, consistently getting thrashed by much superior teams in an attempt to achieve your ambition to avoid relegation it just doesn't appeal. Maybe if you are a fan of good football in general you subscribe to Sky & are happy just to see the superstars perform but if you support a particular club you are happy to follow them at any level providing you can compete ?

Some might argue that in the not too distant past we have had overpaid players. It’s all relative. I actually think 99% of players care, regardless of what we the fans think.
The problem with ANY promotion is in the main you are stepping in to the unknown and won’t know if you will compete. I’m sure Stockport thought they would go on. They may still, but it doesn’t look it at the moment.
As Sheffield United were mentioned earlier, they had a hell of a first season back in the Prem 3/4 years ago. Finishing something like 8th, but we’re in the cusp of getting in to Europe. Brentford last season did OK and beat the likes of Arsenal. This season Brighton are going well and are challenging at the top end, and that’s without spending 150m or paying stupid amounts of money.
It’s possible to actually get promoted and compete. Any fan of any club that says they are happy where they are, winning more games than they lose is nuts IMO. As fans we start EVERY season hoping this is the one where we get promotion, win a league etc… let’s not forget cup runs, we all hope to get a massive club in round 3 and beyond, knowing we are likely to get battered, but we still attend as it’s the hope that we can achieve something special. We have even beaten some decent sides in the not so distant past as well as getting a famous draw against Man City.

Gawd, wasn't it just. Villa surprised me, they could have won that game but seemed to opt to go for a draw.
