Exactly! Your strongest team should be several goals to the good by half time, then you can decide who to rest if it’s looking easy. I’m talking about playing a team two divisions below of course.

How many times have we heard/seen things like this.

We "should" be several goals up well it doesnt work like that in the real world.

Perhaps the only bright spot today: Another impressive crowd, over 5,000, for the 4th qualifying round of the cup. Eight years ago, as a League 1 side, we had 3,661 at home to Accrington in the first round proper (or as we’d call that these days, a good cup run).

Well, I was one of those who wanted us to play a strong team. I still think the FA cup matters.

We put out Notts County reserves and got well & truly humiliated. Time will tell if this affects us in the league.

So some put the blame on the Head Coach for the team selection, others firmly blame the fringe players given a chance to impress and badly failed. The reality is a bit of both IMO. The starting XI was easily good enough on paper to win that game even with 8 changes and especially with those reinforcements on the bench.

If I had been there maybe I'd be more angry and disappointed, but regardless It's hard to be too angry or too disappointed as a fan when you are top of the league.

The biggest losers in all this for me are the players who were given the chance, came in and disappointed.

Win the next league game with the first team and it will be soon forgotten, fail to win and it will becoming a recurring comment.
