    This ^^^

If and when, (as we surely will), we suffer from injuries. We will struggle, given the abysmal showing yesterday.

I think LW made a good point in his post match interview, when he said that it is easier for the squad players to come into the first eleven, in ones and two's, but to come in almost as a team is very different and more difficult. That said, we still should have beaten a team like Coalville.
Although only Austin and Bajrami, showed the correct application, I thought Francis, Castro and Mitchell were shockingly bad.
Putting out the eleven we did will have taught LW a hell of a lot about some players, that could have been a bomb waiting to explode, if he had fielded his best eleven.
On reflection, embarrassment, and lost revenue aside, I think I would rather be able to 'concentrate on the league', rather than have extra fixtures to contend with, which could bring injuries to key players.

I think that’s being a bit overblown - asking one of those players who started yesterday to come into our regular, settled starting xi and do a decent job is a very different thing to changing the entire team and expecting it to be good enough.

We’ve seen this already with Castro having come in at York and been fantastic, TAR against Altrincham, Taylor early in the season, Austin on a couple of occasions, even Mitchell off the bench.

To be honest you saw it in reverse as well with Rawlinson and Brindley who have been very consistent in the league and were the two left over to play yesterday, but both looked poor in such a cobbled together side.

What yesterday has taught me, is that the club will never again con me into spending good money to watch a cobbled together side… a side who train side by side with the first team players everyday of the week.

I can see the attendance for the FA Trophy game breaking all records.

This with bells on, different scenarios.

Our defence was truly dreadful yesterday, even with two of the regulars present. I also accept that playing three at the back, with the wing backs pushed up, puts greater responsibility on the three centre backs.
However, I suspect more and more teams will come to Meadow Lane and put 10 men behind the ball and wait for a chance to counter.
We need to be patient, and we need to play with intensity, but we must also be more defensively astute.
We could have conceded three against both Altrincham and Wrexham, and did concede three yesterday. We definitely need to tighten up as a team at home - how many chances are we giving the opposition through our own mistakes and misplaced passes/headers?

I see Woking signed seven-goal Rhys Browne from Wealdstone for a fee last week - it’d be quite a statement of intent from us if we strengthened our squad while at the top of the league: improvements on the likes of Francis and Mitchell, for starters.

Eh? I think you've confused me with someone else Woody. For clarity, here's what I actually said after the match:

"Horrible feeling, crap result, embarrassing for fans. We should have started with a strong team then made some subs when the game was already well won (IMHO) but at least we're still top of the league.

    And Forest are bottom."

Yesterday showed us that if we get injuries we could be in trouble and some of our fringe players think they're better than they actually are. Apart from that then for me it's all about the league this season. Good to rest players who have played non stop to go again coming into the winter months. We had all this after Dorking and now we're top having beat Wrexham. I think some people are getting carried away with its importance. The ones to blame are the players who yesterday didn't put 100% in and got found out by a team that did.

You and me both I also described it as a horrible and embarrassing result.

I share some of the concerns with nw6, we do seem to be giving up a lot of chances and good opportunities to the opposition.

Admittedly the all important league table stats show a fantastic one goal conceded per game average but there are probably one too many games where the opposition could and should have scored more.
