And this Conservative Party is certainly not right wing - it isn't even conservative. It is about borrowing and spending on a massive scale. It will have to also increase taxes because of its reckless spending (overseen by Sunak). It looks far more like a Socialist Government than anything else. An economic crisis was completely predictable after the "money no object" virus free-for-all. And even without the war and the resulting energy crisis we would have been in dire straits and we would have needed to reduce spending. And the energy crisis is made worse by the insane commitment to "nett zero" - Conservative governments have been blowing up coal fired power stations - not just "mothballing" them but ensuring that they could never be used again! And meanwhile the masses have an infinite appetite for imported rubbish from China who's commitment to fossil fuels never worries the young, holier-than-thou eco-warriors protesting to save the planet in their Chinese clothes and training shoes with their cheap Chinese electronics. And anyone who thinks Europe is the solution to our any of our economic problems needs to realize just what German politicians have been quietly doing for the last 37 years - consuming vast amounts of Russian fossil fuel making Putin very happy and secure whilst pretending to be "green".

And the Labour lot are likely to simply spend more, borrow more and tax more so there is no solution there - heaven forbid if they manage to get in (which is starting to look likely).

The USA for example has huge influence, we pretty much copy anything they do and our government aligns with theirs.

Mind you, Biden is not in charge either, that much is obvious, I'd love to know who is.

As far as I know and I've voted consistently since 1983 .

You can freely enter a polling station and x one of the candidates on that ballot paper just as long as you've registered .

That vote will be counted just as long as you don't spoil it .

Absolutely nobody can interfere with that process .

The information you take in to make your choice at the ballot box is perhaps the question .

What I'm seeing is the Labour Party not making out that they have instant solutions and utopia will be delivered the moment Starmer is stood outside Downing Street .

They know it's a shyte show and they are keen not to over promise and under deliver .

I suspect the ones with the broadest shoulders will be asked to make a bigger contribution .

Rebuilding bridges with the EU will probably come in to play also .

Whoever is in power, there has to be a way found to tax the rich. More money and assets given to the rich just impoverishes the rest of us.

I recall reading somewhere that quantitative easing after the financial crisis in 2007-2008 equated to approx £12,000 per person in the UK. Where the hell did all that money go?....effectively, to the rich. Successive rounds of QE since then has just given away more money and assets to the rich. What do they do with their wealth?...buy more assets and push the prices up for the rest of us. It's laid bare for everybody to see what's happening. The war in Ukraine has been a very convenient smokescreen for the energy price hikes. It was starting before Putin invaded. Inflation, higher food prices, escalating energy bills, escalating property prices. The numbers will be on Google... house prices compared to average earnings now/10 years ago/ 20 years ago/30 years ago. House prices have increased, average earnings haven't. It's getting worse, it's going to get much worse, people need to seriously start asking questions.

This has been happening for years. The poorest and least well off in society have borne the brunt so far. Next in line is the middle class/middle income/heavily mortgaged. It's happening already and house prices are becoming hopelessly out of reach for young people wanting to get on the ladder.

If you believe capitalism to be a system that offers the opportunity to do well if you're prepared to work hard and reap the benefits of that hard work, then you're in for a shock because capitalism is probably on the way out. The way things are going we're heading for a Feudalist society where you haven't a hope in hell of ever owning property. It will all be in the hands of a super-rich minority.

It's never too late to change things. The assets are still there, they haven't evaporated, there just needs to be a fairer distribution. The Tories will never do that, and I don't see the current Labour party wanting to take up that mantle. But somebody has to at some point.

Do you think labour have a plan to sort it out? I have my doubts.
Plus if your theory is correct, is starmer the type of leader we need who is happy to keep quiet whilst thereat of use are struggling to pay our bills.

How I think it will pan out. Morden and sunak will be the2 come Monday. Next year they will call for a election. Labour will win the election and spend the next 4 years moaning about, we can't do much as the conservative left us in such a poor state

I think the whole of UK politics is thin on talent cayton .

I think Labour will steady the ship , stop the rot and hopefully return politics in this country back to a serious business it is rather than the Reality tv show its become .
