The top 2 are then voted on by MP's to determine the winner, but either can ask for the final result to be taken to the members in an on-line vote as a decider. That's the way I interpreted it anyway?

Yeah, I think they are hoping that the lower scoring 'finalist' will defer to the higher scoring one, so no member vote. My point was really more that Penny Mordaunt and Boris seem to be vying for votes from the same pool of MPs.

That might depend how their next leader does? If as expected they get hammered at the next election
then who knows they could still send for Boris God help us.
