    Watching Today’s Match.

I’ve put myself through the pain of watching that first half.

Can someone explain to me what that actually was please.

Shapeless pap, the most disorganised and inept rabble I’ve seen in an Albion shirt since the Neil Parsley, Scott Darton era.

Even though we were terrible in the late 80’s we had a shape, we had a back four and a midfield four, there was at least the effort at a structure.

I’m saying this for the billionth time so please forgive and indulge me here, anyone on here who has played any level of football and who in particular has played in defence will tell the rest of you this fact.........playing a back three requires the following,

1/ Tremendous pace or the Bobby Moore or Paul McGrath ability to read the play to perfection to counter your slight lack of pace.

2/ Your positional play has to be faultless.

3/ Even with pace you have a tremendous weakness down each flank IF your wingbacks don’t track their man 100% of the time.

NONE of our potential back three have ANY of the above attributes.....zero, zilch, nada...NONE!!!!

4/ Your wingbacks need searing pace and concentration.......HELLOOOOO!!!

5/ Your front three have to press the opposition defenders ALL of the time and midfield have to press their counterparts.

We have virtually no personel capable of playing in a 3-4-3......TGH is the only exception in my opinion.

Playing in a back three is a horrible job, as a mediocre Sunday player I can’t do justice as to how hard it is, I hated it.

When you are in deep s h I t it’s the last formation you should attempt with poor quality players who lack confidence.

We need a 4-5-1 with our most physical, robust defenders even if that means Bartley.

We need to stop shipping goals and start playing on the break in limited numbers and stop crossing the f king ball because there’s nobody there to head it.

We need one up front, I’d even take a chance on Bartley up there if Asante isn’t fit, we need a physical target.

But we have got to stop this 3-4-3 madness.

Today was a witless, shapeless nothing of a team.

All joking apart, I can pick a better side and coach better than Carlos The Jackass did today!

I think that you could make a case for asserting that we don’t have the players to fit any formation satisfactorily. Poor management, lack of any medium to long term planning and a stupid, disinterested owner have brought our club to the bottom of the Championship, maybe even on the slippery slope into League One.

I agreed with ya until your last 15 words.. I suppose we all can. Let’s give the bloke more than one game hey. I heard someone call him Manuel earlier ffs. He’s not even from Barcelona, .still it’s only up from here lads. Beat Blackpool on Tuesday and we might be off bottom. Small steps and all that. Lol

Mate......I’m serious, any of us on here could’ve put out a better balanced side and formation yet we have Carlos The Jackass putting that abortion in front of us FFS.

    Unforgivable.

A man who hadn’t done his due diligence.

Another £1m to £2m down the s h I t t e r in pay off and wasted wages over the next 12 weeks or so.

I can’t argue with that. But what can we do. Lai ain’t going anywhere. Gourlay ( I’m convinced he’s Jez moxey in disguise) ain’t gonna go anywhere . . We stuck in the now. .pretty depressing ain’t it. Remember Ossie after Gould was sacked.. we need that back

I agree that although no formation has worked for us 3 at the back is easily the worst.
Mind you to me it was more like we had 3 at the back, 2 in midfield and rotating 2 narrow wingers.
    Not a centre forward anywhere!
Like it was 11 vs 8
Maybe playing two banks of 5 for the first 15 mins may at least stop us conceding early on. Only joking !!

    Can it get any worse?

Your due diligence comment is interesting mickd buddy, particularly as Carlos, within one of the post appointment interviews, said he had viewed all the team’s performances this season ! Worrying if true !!
The Grant selection amazed me, thus my comments elsewhere about the previous Huddersfield connections of both ?

I think this is a good point. Until Ajayi returns I don’t see how we can have a strong defence with 4 at the back. Our wing backs aren’t good enough for 3/5 at the back.

I can’t ever see 3/5 at the back working with wingers operating in 3 up top (not our wingers anyway). If CC wants to play that type of defence, I would like to see us go 2 up top playing off each other with Swift behind.

First game in charge Mick. I couldn’t stand Bruce but gave him 10 games to prove me wrong. See what happens Tuesday. Being our manager would have been a huge job for anyone. At least he said yes.

I can’t see another viable choice.

I’d go with 4 supposed centre halves across the back line with O’Shea as right back and play Pieters on the left with Kelly and Bartley centrally until Ajayi returns.

Yoksulu, Livermore, TGH, Wallace, Diangana in midfield and wider areas and Asante or Cleary or Dike as a lone striker.

We need to flood midfield, play deep and try pinching games having not conceded.

We are not going to “play” our way out of this.

It’s trench warfare for the rest of the season.
