Lescott was terrible in his second season for us though.

Remember when Megson brought in Port Vale reserve centre half Buttler back in 2000?

Megson said he couldn’t pass a ball 5 yards but what he could do was win every corner and cross in the air and block as if his life depended on it!

He did and along with Clement, Cummings and the returning Bob Taylor he helped keep us up.

A hero of mine, long forgotten by many but superb at the basics.

Lescott was only with us for the one season, I just had to check.

It was the year Irvine was sacked and Pulis took over midway through. I remembered Pulis made us solid defensively when he came in. I just read that in his first 10 matches we kept 6 clean sheets, in the Prem too.

Lescott joined us on a two year deal in 2014.

He started the second season with us and had a couple of awful displays before he was sold to Villa.

Yep, remember that he really was poor and never met the expectations most had for him.
