Changed my spectacle’s before I approached the tee. Ah much better as I could now see the fairway and not a runway.

Clean through the ball high into the sky but it stopped dead when it hit the ground, no bounce no carry though nothing and not one letter correct.

Much better second and the thwack as the iron t.watted the ball took it to the edge of the green. “I’m almost there” I told myself as I had 2g, 1y.

Gentle chip and oh so close as the ball stopped 2inch short of the hole. 4g.

Gentle tap in gave me a wry smile as I saw 5g.

Much better with par for the day leaves me on +4. Thought I’d be advancing to +5 but just goes to show if you change your specs you see things more clearly.

Buoyed by the last two days of a buzzard and a bird (are you sure you golf people have this right? Weird) I had a hearty breakfast of Guiness and Vodka before making my way to the court. Confident I could now do whatever I wanted and as long as I drank enough it would be a success, I changed my technique again with a completely different word to any I've tried before and confidently slashed away with my serve. Woosh. Clipped the ball (research this and it's not a puck, thanks Google) which went 5 foot off to my left (0g 1y).

Clearly, the only way to solve a crisis is to up the drinking something proper, and luckily I had brought the rest of the vodka on the bat carrier. Two big gulps and here we go. Slash! The ball skewed helplessly over to my right and well short of the green short grassy bit with the flag (0g 2y)

Saw Brin out on the court in the distance. Waved hello. He swore at me. Rude.

Frustrated. More gulps. Got a another bat, metal one with funny shape. Hit the ball and it went upwards for some reason but landed just off the grass bit with the flag (1g 1y). This is ****ing **** and I'm fed up with it. In fury I swipe at the ball without care with the funny shaped bat again and luckily it looped straight up onto the green thing and hobbled straight into the hole nudging the flag happily on its way (5g)

So I come out after a shocking start with a Parp and quite happy with that. Dropped trousers at Brin who seems to be calling someone on his phone in the distance. That'll learn ya fella. That'll learn ya.

No real fireworks off the tee. Hit slightly left but on the fairway.

Nine iron approach to the green.

Straight at the flag, one bounce and in the hole.

    3y
    5g

    For an eagle 2.

Chip and run shot to within 2ft of pin 3g

Rearrange these two words to get my feelings on today's effort, smacked and gob. My 2nd shot never even bounced (I really had no clue after the first shot (just the 2nd vowel) so went with the surname of a guy I have a meeting with in 30 minutes )

    1g
    5g

    -3 after 5 holes.
