...because by carrying on the fight with the goal of securing an outright victory, one takes the risk that they might suffer an outright defeat.

    It’s simple fecking logic, innit!

No, it isn't. Because I believe most people would not tolerate outright defeat for Ukraine any more than they did for say France in WWII. Even military defeat should be followed by ongoing economic and guerilla resistance. Russia won't win this one. Most western governments and citizens can see that giving in to another Hitler is intolerable.

Changing Russia to Ukraine to "testing NATO's resolve" - ah ah. Updating with your own meaning is more accurate.

Ok. I concede that Ukraine being turned into the next Gazza Strip isn’t a possibility I’d included. But even there, it’s business as usual everywhere else and world trade goes on around them as if nothing ever happened.

Well, given that the source of the error has now changed from one to the other, does your logic not still apply, or do you admit to having double standards?

If you mean negotiating peace, to include how Russia will have to make reparations for the terrible damage they have inflicted upon Ukraine then I'm all for it.

You seem to think that it would mean everyone just packing up their weapons and going home.

Are you mad? You compare a central European country of 43million, bordering NATO and EU to Gaza! And think Russia would be allowed to just occupy and devastate it with no ongoing resistance.

No, I mean a negotiated peace that both sides agree to. What that turns out to be isn’t for you or I to decide, let alone negotiate between us.

Is there no ongoing resistance from the Palestinians?

Well, either way, I’ll leave you to compare and contrast the similarities between Gazza and Ukraine.

Btw, Gazza has two of the letter ‘z’, unless one of them got banned. 😉

I wasn't aware that Ukraine was raining missiles on Russian civilians.

I think everyone else, and that would appear to tbe the G20minus1, think this act of war should come to an end and most on here wish to see the side that started it lose.

Ukraine can't win - it still ends up with a terrorist country as its neighbour.
