That interview seemingly really effected , not sure you gave him a chance from day one.... well three.

Once in a lifetime? How do you work that out?

Opinions varied obviously but my mates and fellow Notts supporters didn't really care about the FA Trophy, they saw it as a distraction from the far more important league campaign.

When was the last time we went to Wembley ? it was 1995 against Ascoli in the Anglo Italian, To some supporters that is a life time. We had the chance to go again in 2021 against Hornchurch. That was no distraction as you so put, it was an opportunity for some silverware and for those success starved fans a trip to Wembley. I went to every round of that competition and felt cheated of an opportunity by that arrogant piece..

It was a forgettable performance but last time we went to Wembley was against Bradford in the playoffs in 96

You are right it was, and we never turned up for the game.

Mark Stallard was playing for Bradford and scored their 2nd goal.

At the time we played Hornchurch, I'm not sure anybody was expecting to go Wembley even if we won because we were still in lockdown.
IIRC the final was very limited capacity, 6,000 attended.

No matter what happens, I'll always maintain the next time we go to Wembley needs to be in a Play Off final.
Having not been there for so long, it will be massive deal which will have the sort of effect it had on Bradford when we played them, they were far more up for it and took greater numbers because we'd been there and done it already.

Understand why those who haven't been before are desperate to see Notts get there in whatever competition, but it's always a high probability we'll reach a PO final so long as we remain in tier 4 or tier 5

For me IB put the foundations in place and LWs took it to another level so I can only see his appointment as positive. I personally believe he doesn’t have the personality to get players to get in teams faces and probably more surprising Doyle doesn’t seem to either. We don’t know the ins and outs of his departure. I doubt the ownership were patting him on his back for the season. My gut says he probably thought he couldn’t get us out and took an easy option to progress and probably thought it would be easy to build on Rob Edwards work, but footballs not that easy. I think they’ll stick with him, Dale Vince is a strange character and I imagine quite stubborn/defensive over his decisions.

I remember that game well, unfortunately.

There are many younger than me on here and I'd be gutted if the FA Trophy last season was indeed the last chance we had of reaching a Wembley final. Thankfully I am more optimistic than you and I'd be shock if we aren't at Wembley within the next 10-12 years

I'm very optimistic about being successful in future years, primarily because we now have a structure in place to ensure that happens. The only concern i would have is that our current owners decided to sell the club. History tells you that there are some cowboys owners who
would destroy that structure in the blink of an eye, or the flash of his d*ck.

He sent us backwards from Ardley. We went from hard to beat and gritty to a ponderous soft touch.
His only achievement was to rehabilitate Adam Chicksen. That's it. Getting compensation for him was great transfer business.
