New year message from owners

our owners Chris and Alex Reedtz have issued a new year’s message to supporters.

As we say goodbye to an eventful 2022 and welcome what’s sure to be an exciting 2023, we would like to wish our fans a very happy new year and thank them for their tremendous, continued support.

While 2022 didn’t bring us the promotion we all wanted, we believe it has nevertheless been a year of positive progress with plenty of enjoyable and memorable moments.

Clearly, the biggest decision and challenge we faced this year was appointing the right head coach to lead us into this season following the departure of Ian Burchnall.

We are, of course, very glad that we gave that responsibility to Luke Williams, who has taken us to the top of the table and established an incredibly effective and appealing style of play.

Our thanks go to him, his staff and players for their excellent performance so far, which we’re sure will continue into the new year and beyond.

Automatic promotion has always been our number-one aim and we’re delighted to find ourselves in a strong position to go on and achieve it this season. There’s still a lot of football to be played, of course, and we face very competitive opposition, but we have full belief in Luke and the team.

January brings inevitable speculation around players coming in and out – but our stance is the same as ever. We would only consider selling a player if we believed the offer would benefit our push for promotion, and we will only consider new signings who will significantly help the squad.

Luke has done a brilliant job of moulding a tight-knit group of players who are consistently delivering excellent results and, while we are constantly striving for improvement, we must appreciate the work of those who have got us into this position and give them our backing.

Away from the field, we have been pleased to make several investments in the club’s long-term infrastructure this year, including the installation of new state-of-the-art floodlights and the completion of Nottingham Padel Centre.

In terms of future projects, we’re in the final stages of approving a total replacement of the PA system at Meadow Lane, with work to begin in the new year. We believe this significant investment will greatly enhance the matchday experience for our supporters and help create a more vibrant atmosphere.

We have also approved proposals for an ambitious, exciting and highly-impactful marketing project which will boost the club’s efforts to attract fans of the future. Detail on this will follow in the months ahead.

It’s been very encouraging to see our supporter base continue to increase this season, with an average gate of 8,000 and more than 4,000 season ticket holders.

This was also the year that we broke our own National League attendance record with an incredible crowd of 16,511 against Yeovil Town. Who knows - maybe the final match of the season against York City will give us the chance to break it again!

Nice message as usual, all positive. No mention of any financial worries despite some fans' concerns about the accounts, so hopefully the brothers have it all under control. In fact, they're talking about further long-term investments. I enjoy the sense of calm surrounding the club these days. Hopefully it's well-placed!

I love the feeling that everything seems solid, not built on sand and ready to collapse at any moment.
Great owners, to improve crowds and the first team from our lowest ever level makes you realise how incompetent the likes of Scardino and Storrie, Trew and Rodwell and Hardy were.
