Muric 8 - Good distribution & a couple of good saves I thought
Roberts 7 - Kept the ball well when under pressure
THB 7 -
Beyer 8 - Class act
Maatsen 6 - Couldn't get forward with them more o less man marking him with their quickest player but defended ok
Cork 8 - Brilliant
Cullen 6 - Not as involved as he normally is but did ok
Brownhill 7 - Good energy
Barnes 7 - Some nice touches, so much better nowadays than the last couple of seasons
Churlinov 3 - I want this guy to be good. 1st touch was woeful though & couldn't beat his man. Hopefully gets better with time
Benson 9 - Brilliant to watch. Ability to go both ways. I think he is immense.
Zarourry 6
Jay Rod 7
Tella 6
Fantastic win. Played well on the whole. I thought the goal was a superb move. Beat there press and passed it around a fair bit before eventually being bundled over the line but great passing/possession before the goal

I only saw the second half. I would say that it was not our best performance. That may be down to how Stoke worked hard to stop us in playing our game. That did, however, mean that Stoke offered little threat in front of goal. Defensively we looked solid. Attacking wise, it was difficult.
Benson often had three defenders on him when he got the ball. Not even he could get through that, whilst Roberts found it more difficult to get forward to link up with Benson.
Churlinov was substituted early in the second half. What I did see did not impress. His first touch was poor and there didn’t appear to be much of an understanding with Maatson.
All in all we got 3 points whilst not at our best and kept a clean sheet. Credit to Stoke for making it difficult, but it is said by many that good teams can still win whilst in a scruffy match. That was the Clarets last night.
I did see the highlights, and despite a couple of good saves, Mr Muric was giving me the heebie-jeebies again.
Do you think that's more the style of play rather than Muric himself? Personally it is for me. Any keeper looking to play passes out rather than "hoofing it" would make me a bit nervous.
I wonder if we will ever get used to it as fans and be totally calm when there dicking about with it. Will be interesting to see.
Muric has made some good, instinctive saves. That, like Pope and Heaton before him, is invaluable and earns us points. Improving skill with the ball at his feet can be achieved, as with an outfield player. Can you teach a goalkeeper reactions?
I would like to see him dominate his area more, as did Pope and Heaton. Again, he can be taught that and encouraged/ given confidence in that area. He is still young and developing. He is not Tom Heaton……..yet.
No it's not his footballing ability that bothers me UG, if we're going to be playing it out from the back, and we are, he's probably as good as we're going to get, it's his actual goal-keeping ability. His judgement is awful, he really doesn't seem to know what he should be doing. Honestly, just as a keeper I wouldn't have him in the Clitheroe team.
