In the second half he twice did what I’m always crying out for him to do…beat his man down the line…and put the ball in. Yes, it created two goals, but they were two moments out of the 90+. He also needlessly gave away the free kick that resulted in the penalty. I’m at risk of sounding like Durham I know, but he worries me a lot when the opposition have the ball, TAR doesn’t.

He is indeed a good back up, especially if he’s in the mood to attack defenders but he is inconsistent in doing so….that’s what we get at this level though I suppose, inconsistency, otherwise he’d be playing further up the pyramid.

I may sound like a broken record, but Palmer was my MOTM again. He nearly always is!
Over the 90 minutes Nemane beat his man about 3 or 4 times. After that it was just get rid. With the inclusion of Bostock we now have too many in the side just happy to keep re-cycling the ball without getting anywhere.

Did you two watch the game on Boxing Day? Watch these highlights from 2:55 and you'll see three really good balls from Chicksen. The first forces their defender to kick the ball against his own goalkeeper's head (who knew nothing about it), the other two pick out Ruben and Castro in good shooting positions.

😂 funny how your mind remembers what it wants to sometimes. I stand corrected, they were some great balls from Chicksen which should have been converted.

It shows how involved he must’ve been because I’m sure I recall another two or three balls across which went straight to the first defender!

We used to score far more regularly off corners, after we brought in that set pieces coach. Although quite a few didn't believe it and didn't recognise his impact , Richard's statistical evidence supported a clear upturn in productivity from set pieces especially corners from one season to the next.

    Then he left....

Bit sad and googled it, basically 1-2% scored direct from corners we. My conclusion are corners are not as important as maybe a lot think.

Exactly. I thought he was our most disappointing player that day, mainly because he had so many opportunities. Highlights , unsurprisingly don't show the whole picture and as you would expect tend to focus on the better pieces of play. He hit the first man multiple times, picked the wrong option on others. Just didn't seem like his day, not for want of trying but it just didn't come off for him that day.

Maybe LW agreed and that's why he didn't start at Boundary Park.

Or maybe a case of his first game back, I was right level with chicks and he was blowing out his arse the last 30, I was surprised he stayed on.

One ‘bad’ game and he’s dropped? Why was Scott dropped then, after scoring 2 goals? What happened to ‘if you play well you keep the shirt’?

I can understand people’s frustration with what happened yesterday, and with the second half last Monday, yesterday’s first half was a lacklustre continuation of that without creating the chances.

There’s no doubt LW has created a side miles above the normal standard of this league, but unfortunately it won’t win it without working out why it keeps shooting itself in the foot on a semi regular basis.

Full respect TSANHO, at least you had the guts to admit you got it wrong on this one.

I'm sure there were some crosses that went to the first defender, but he also put some really good balls in. I've watched it several times, and still feel cheated that the first cross didn't result in a goal. Chicksen couldn't have done anything more, he put the ball into what in cricket would be described as the 'corridor of uncertainty', which forced the keeper to commit, and I'm sure it's exactly what the coaching staff would want him to do. It would have resulted in an own goal 98% of the time, but on this occasion a goalbound clearance from their defender happened to hit his own keeper who was way out of position!

Maybe that's the real reason for LWs actions.
