    Rapist Met Officer - Carrick

This guy should be executed by hanging without a doubt along with the other scum who raped and killed Sarah Everard!

Any woman should now object getting into a police car and object speaking to a lone policeman unless on a busy street!

Eye for an eye - execute them!

    This case is unbelievable.

On a personal level I’ve known some really horrible human beings who were in the police along with some horrible, arrogant w a n k e r s as well.

I once went to a New Years Eve party with the police from Halesowen as an ex girlfriend’s mum was on the secretarial staff at the station.

The majority of them drove home p I s s e d at the end of the evening and were joking that they only needed to flash their warrant card if they got stopped.

I have so little respect for the police, I’ve never been in trouble or locked up but I can honestly say I’ve never enjoyed any interactions with them.

Full of self importance and arrogance most of them.

Good summary and so true! Many cops, lawyers and judges drink together and corruption is rife! Been like that for years in Brum and know - as my late mum worked in law and was married to a crooked lawyer!

When it’s your word against a cop - you usually have no chance!

How can vetting of police not be 100%? Those who do the checks should be personally held to account!

Lots of wrong uns in the police. I worked with a woman once who was as racist as 4uck, was on a disciplinary for racist comments. So she decided to apply to join the police and was successful. I'd be amazed if her views have changed.

My late uncle was high up in the Free Masons , went to a few of his charity events.
For so called respected people , found a lot of them strange and shady.

My father was a policeman, admittedly a long time ago, but when he joined the force he told me that they even went through my mother’s background with a ‘fine tooth comb.’ It appears to me that this is where one of the problems lies. Surely that all the incidents that this individual was involved with should have had alarm bells ringing. He should never have been employed in the first place.

I've known quite a few coppers over the years. Most have been fine, a few exceptional but it's also been obvious to me that far too high a proportion have also been poor/bad. Some have been bent, some violent, some racist and misogynistic and some simply useless.

Should we expect more from them, higher standards? Absolutely! The job is an exceptionally difficult and, at times, complex one and so those tasked to perform it should be amongst the best available. Any job that offers the potential to have effective power over others will always attract those who will seek to abuse this for their own ends and this has to be guarded against. The current failures to both weed out existing corruption and behaviours as well properly vet during the recruitment process is nothing short of a disgrace.

Sadly however-like most things in life-so much will come down to money and funding- better salaries to attract better candidates, greater investment in recruitment, training, equipment and higher numbers of officers at the sharp end to list just a few.

Good post! The starting salary for a copper is pathetic so how can they hope to attract the best? They can’t!!

Many too would like to go into teaching but again the salary is equally as pathetic!!

I heard recently about a young relative of mine who has recently graduated and landed herself with a job in Birmingham which mostly revolves around monitoring CCTV in the city for dodgy motors. My understanding is that the job is affiliated with the Police and that she is paid about £80k a year. How can this be right given that new officers on the beat are paid a fraction of this? The old adage about paying peanuts and only getting monkeys holds more than a semblance of truth.
