It wasn't the base underneath that froze. It was the plastic itself. I'm no expert on astro but I'm fairly sure consistent brushing of the surface would've stopped it freezing.

Their manager said they did everything they could but he also voiced concerns at 3PM.The pitch apparently is in a valley and is always colder than the higher ground in the surrounding area. That i can understand because in Dundee we work in the Trottick area which is also in a valley and is like the land that time forgot during cold spells.

This however is as far as my understanding goes,if they played fair and had a grass pitch with undersoil heating the game would have went ahead.I know that there is a rule stating that all Premiership pitches must have undersoil heating and that rule must apply to Rugby Park,The Tony Macaroni and any other stadium with an artificial surface.

If its not possible for artificial pitches to be heated underneath then the teams need to be banned from playing in the Premiership until they have installed a grass pitch.Even simpler just ban plastic pitches altogether from top level football in Scotland.I would also add another rule that if any lower league team draw's a Premiership club at home on a plastic surface they shall forfeit home advantage which would do most of them a favour anyway with increased gate revenue .

Still FN boiling with this one and i agree with other posters that the governing bodies in Scotland are making us a laughing stock allowing these shyte pitches at the highest level and i cannot understand why the OF and other clubs have not had a lot more to say on them over the years.
