    Turf Moor

It's only a few miles away from Wuthering Heights. Top Withens which is said to be the inspiration for the novel dominates the surrounding area.
The same distance the other side of the hill is Haworth.
If Emily Bronte had been born a few miles to the west she would have been Lancastrian and so would Cathy and Heathcliffe.
The story Wuthering Heights is a tale of the Yorkshire Moors, but they could have belonged to Burnley which hardly gets a mentio.
Strange how fate and Geography shapes your destiny.

Been to Haworth and visited the Brontë home.

I did Wuthering Heights (Emily) and Jane Eyre (Charlotte) when I studied English literature at university.

A third sister (Anne) wrote as well I believe (Agnes Grey).

The film Wuthering Heights could have been better, a story better than Gone With the Wind. The film finishes halfway through the book, after Cathy dies Heathcliffe has his revenge on all his neighbours.
I did Cider With Rosie at college, Laurie Lee was still alive. I found it heavy going but thoroughly enjoyed the television film some years ago.
Birdsong and Charlotte Gray, again the books are much better than the films.

Agreed about the film vs the book (Wuthering Heights).

Kate Bush's rendetion of the story in her song that seemed to last for years (well as a child it did) is my closeness to this culture thread.
    Right I'm off....🏃🏃🏃
