I know everyone sees the game differently, that's as it should be, but I'm a bit surprised I'm the only one who thought Benson was poor when he came on. I thought I might have been unfair on him giving him only 4, so I've watched his 26 minutes again, he put 6 centres in, the first from the left was scuffed, three others were under-hit straight to defenders and the other two straight down the keepers throat, plus he hit one shot wide.

I know what the lad is capable of, I know what he can do, but he didn't do any of it last night, hence 4/10, which I think was possibly a bit on the generous side.

On reflection I agree. I scored him a 6 but it depends on what you gauge a 6. I class a 6 as “meh”

A 4 I’d class as, “he ain’t playing the next 6 games after that ffs”

I reckon on 7 as a decent game, 6 bit below average, 5 not good enough, 4 piss poor.

I agree, slightly different terminology but similar enough

But I do think coming on as a sub and trying to get to the temp of the game EVERY TIME must be very hard to do. I think most think it’s just a normal. It’s really not, must be very hard. So taking into account he was a sub again , got a decent whack , a 6 ( meh) is fair enough for me

I can only judge on what I saw UG, he was sent on to do one job, get some decent crosses into their box, anything else would have been a bonus. He put in 6 crosses, none of them even close to what he was trying to achieve. This is not a Sunday School League, there are no excuses at this level, you either do your job or you don't, and last night he didn't, he was piss poor, hence 4/10. And yes he got a whack, but come on, wingers don't get wrapped in cotton wool in the Championship, they get whacked, it goes with the territory, besides which, the tackle that laid him out was a good one, perfectly fair, ball and man, I've seen hundreds worse.

I am not knocking him though, I'll be quite happy if he starts the next game, the lad is a potential matchwinner, this was just 25 minutes last night, not his night.

I totally understand what your saying and agree. Merely just pointing out sometimes it’s hard as a sub to come on and effect a game.

Totally agree with the crosses, it was like a 6 year old with no strength.

I watched Pope pull off a save last night that ultimately earned the Toon a deserved point. Muric would not have saved that in a million years but on the other hand his playing out from the back is unbelievable.

Two rows back from us a female fan nearly wets herself every time he is sweeping up on the half way line.

He was even in their half at one point, I don't think I've ever seen that before, except for keepers coming up late on for corners, which is something different entirely. He really is two different players, as a sweeper he's the best I've seen, it's scary at times, but we are the best at playing it out from the back, mainly because of him. As a keeper, he's possibly the worst I've seen at this level, he's 6ft 5 inches and the opposition drop corners into our 6 yard box for fun and he hasn't got a clue what to do about them. If him and Pukki went for a high ball together, I'd back Pukki to win it. But it won't happen, he wouldn't go for it in the first place.

Benson had the "treatment" early doors, the poor bugger could hardly walk never mind kick a football. The myopic referee gave him no protection whatsoever.
