Cards on the table - yes I voted SNP but have already said never again - over the moon that she's on her way. Don't hate her quite as much as I hated Thatcher but not kicking the arse off it.

Islay, since I posted once that I hated the arrogance of many of the English people I met during my time in the RAF, pointing out how racist they can be to other UK residents, a certain poster has called me racist and anti English. I'm not and never have been, I just dislike the attitude of many of those people. Best not to respond to that poster who clearly has issues.

I also know many English residents of Scotland who vote SNP and who support independence; one of these was a Professor of Economics at St. Andrews University - now sadly passed away. He was convinced it was the only way to go and could present very good and viable arguments for it. Unfortunately a lot of it was over my head but he was very clear on it. He was also very big on sustainability and this is where he saw much of Scotland's value as an independent nation. Obviously many of his opinions on independence were formed from the corruption rife in successive UK Tory governments which would also exist in an independent Scottish SNP government.

The independence debate is done to death on here and I think, with Sturgeon gone, could well now be dead in the water. Time to move on and to get Labour back into Holyrood

You posted that you hated the English.

I’d say that was an issue.

I hope the independence debate is over and we can get back to trying to get stuff sorted out for all Scots. You can't tax your way to prosperity. You need businesses to do well so they can pay good wages. We need a farming community that invests in food production as a better way to earn a living than putting up housing or building wind farms or solar arrays, we need to get the Green Marxists out of government. IMO they are much more dangerous to us all because of their single issue politics.
There is a real problem with climate change but it isn't going to be solved by raising green taxes and giving the money to those countries that are likely to be drowned.

Hopefully we might get some interesting insights from Dees who live in Pacific Ocean threatened islands , or Dees who work for the Royal Mail, or the buses or the oil industry. I know it's a football forum but in the pre Pravda days this forum had a wide range of opinions which I found instructive.

That could be difficult as a lot of Labour supporters including White Settlers on Islay now vote SNP.
Goodness knows why as an independent Scotland will lose its annual income from the Barnett Formula plus Barnett consequentials which this year has resulted in the Scottish Government receiving £41 Billion from Westminster.
The pro independence supporters are unable/unwilling to explain how the loss of the income from the Barnett Formula would be replaced.

By controlling our own finances and not sending our taxes to Westminster
