    Our Bashley

Looks like it's the end of an era for him, great to see him score our first (even though he might have been offside lol) Love him or hate him for me he has to go down as a Burnley legend ..His ****housery has been fantastic and the way he has played this season has been a joy to watch.Loved the way he looked after our young players on the pitch ,you can see the admiration they have for him.Who can forget the two goals he banged in against the Bastids and knocking their goalie into the back of the net.🤣
I would love to see him back at the Turf in some coaching role after his career is over.
Bashley I take my hat off to you and wish you all the best wherever you end up.
    A true Clarets legend..xxx

alf, he has been brilliant this season and all that after being written off by so many of our fans! He has now achieved three promotions to the PL and always gives his all in every game ---a true professional and has given so much to Burnley FC.

I've just watched the highlights and Ashley's swansong, what a way to announce your parting with style, another Turf Moor legend just made.

    Absolute legend.

When the Clarets play at Ewood in the return fixture Bashley simply has to play from the start no matter what.
If nothing else he will have their fans "wound up to the max" before a ball is even kicked.
Who know what he might have in store as his final "party piece "for the Rovers fans?

It seemed odd when asked immediately after the win at Middlesbrough he said, "It was the end of an era".

The obvious conclusion to that statement is that he is not being offered a new contract and he is leaving Turf Moor in June.

The way he has led the line this season I think he deserves at least one more year.

    Your thoughts?

It’s a great post Alf , my addition would be who knew that the battering ram physical aggressive forward Sean Dyche had cultured, had the complete opposite mindset and skill set in his locker.

So your take you hat of comment I think is more than warranted as the lad is intelligent in his game , his link play is very good , and he actually became a much better footballer in only twelve months at the twilight of his carrier , that is a massive achievement in itself, on top of that he cemented himself a place in a pacey fluid young team and has the respect of all who play with him.
The man really deserves is championship winners medal 🏅 I really hope he gets it.

    Good memories 👍👍👍👍

Whilst it is a possible conclusion, it could also be by mutual consent or it could be that he does not fancy being in the PL but would prefer to continue at a lower level, like Vokes did.

We don’t know the plans for next season. Maybe he sees Obafemi and Foster as the future.

I would still prefer to have him in the squad for another season. His experience would be helpful to the younger players.

It seems he has decided to call it a day at Turf Moor S_c..

He told Sky Sports: "After a difficult last season to get relegated and bounce back by going straight back up is phenomenal. I'm a bit emotional because this is my end of an era here as a Burnley player.

"To do that and score that goal for these fans, to give that back to them - I am quite emotional. It's on the club. It's time to move on, it's just one of those things. I'm delighted for all the staff and all the fans. The fans have been through some tough times last season and it was nice to give that back to them."
