    Meslier

obviously, the keeper can't totally offset the porous defense in front of him but he's been outplayed by almost every other keeper we've faced in 2023.

He looks like he's mailed it in for the last 3 games.

It must be hard for him at his age to concede so many goals and for it to not affect him. He has definitely shown signs of weakness in recent weeks that weren’t there before he was partially at fault for a few of the 11 goals in the last two games but I agree if you compare him to Ederson, Pickford, Martinez etc they do seem to regularly pull of worldies

I suspect that he is fed up being the fall guy (literally sometimes) for a defence that all too often goes missing. If we are relegated I think it's certain he will leave, and even if we survive there's no guarantee, because he will still see the same collander defence in front of him.

A young lad that has had a very busy season for us, probably nearly burnt out.

However he has made numerous high class save this season and kept us in many games too.

think i saw a stat somewhere that was like last 13 shots on target 12 goals conceeded.

my issue with meslier is he hasn't improve at all in 18 months, he every now and then has a really good game and to rarely makes massive errors. He is a good goalkeeper, wildly overrated compared to what he does but a good young keeper who might one day be a very good keeper but seriously doubt world class is in his future.

Where the problem lies is when you watch say someone like Pickford, Navas, or Neto you see them constantly making abo****e world class saves to keep their sides in games whereas Meslier just doesn't do that as much/not anymore and that is what we need right now and going forward a keeper with experience and ability.

If we stay up and sell him, i'd be sad to see him go but also be delighted if we go out and get someone with a bit more experience or even someone like Dean Henderson.

So one of the few players, if not the only one, to have played in every match since promotion, who has been the "recipient" of the performance of our woeful defence, "hasn't improved at all in 18 months", on what basis, that the sieve of a defence has allowed us to concede more goals on a regular basis than ever? Perhaps it would be your preference to have someone like De Gea, paid a small fortune in comparison, and gifts goals like he did tonight?

If he has given up, it's hardly surprising, given the sh1t show he has in front of him, and if he leaves (as I fully believe he will if we get relegated, and might even if we survive) I wish him well and that his new club respect him enough to provide a respectable defence for him to support. And anyone we get to replace him will perform in EXACTLY the same fashion unless we sort out what our back four are supposed to be doing.

FYI, watch Ramsdale in the season Blades were relegated, and now watch him.

He's a good keeper but he has made some howlers this season can't blame it all on defense. Off hand, I can count 10 his let slip due to his own faults.
