Well its blown Starmers claim that anti semitism doesn't exist now in the Labour ranks. This was Corbyns number 2 and a potential home secretary.
    How deep does this go?

Before anyone says, the topic is careless Tories, and the subject is very apt when slinging mud.

Insensitive? Yes. Foolish? Probably. Badly timed? Certainly...but anti Semitic? I’m not so sure.

‘This was Corbyn’s number 2 and a potential home secretary’. Corbyn is suspended from the Labour Party, his leadership ended years ago and Diane Abbott is certainly no potential Home Secretary. What is your point?

Problem arose, as far as I know, today...and it’s been dealt with today. If you want to draw parallels, compare and contrast with how long it takes and how much it has cost to deal with all the ‘careless Tories’.

Touché on the post pairing thing although GP and I aren’t the champions thereof

Also agree the Abbott gaffe has been dealt with with admirable haste but agree with TTR if it had been in the opposite direction there would be a massive **** storm happening

Mm so Johnson, Braverman and others who have made equally racist or xenophobic remarks have been met with a **** storm?? I'm confused as to how you think that somehow Labour gets a free pass, have you seen the headlines in the fail, Torygraph etc supporting Raabs victim status?

I’ll reserve judgement on that as I’ve seen no proof, but am aware that Raab said if there were any finding against him he’d resign, and he did. Man of his word

Glad you ‘got’ it. GP seems to be having a particularly dim day.
No ‘champions’, AF...entirely coincidental, or ‘situational’ at least, and there have been plenty of times when you, GP and Tricky have come across as the ‘three amigos’.
Do Swale and I often comment as a pair? I don’t know...I doubt it, but I’m certainly neither interested, or paranoid, enough to start checking it out.
Better to stick to the topic and leave out the sideswipes perhaps.

    Not sideswipes just observations rA

On topic, refreshing to see, just for once, a politician taking criticism on the chin and not trying to change the subject - Pat McFadden on BBC Breakfast this am

If you say so...didn’t see Pat McFadden so can’t comment.
If it was about Diane Abbott...my personal take is...she has a bad habit of putting her foot in it and I have often cringed at her appearances on QT etc. I imagine Tories must feel the same whenever the likes of Gove, Williamson and Patel etc begin to speak.
On the other hand...an MP’s first responsibility is, imo, to his/her constituents and judging by her repeatedly huge majority Diane Abbott’s seem more than satisfied with her.
In short...a groundbreaking politician who appears to be an excellent local MP but one who needs to think before she engages in public pronouncement.

My point RA, was that ABBOTT was expected to be our new home secretary. If the Polls were to be believed at that time, it was nailed on.
Yes Corbyn has gone, but Abbott remained as a Labour MP. Starmer said all the anti Jew vides had been purged. Obviously not.
So I'll say again, how deep does it go? Corbyns followers took control of Labour and the ilk he trained.
They haven't all gone away either, so has the poison?

I'd like to see a letter from every one of them saying they are not anti semitic and reject all that are.
Lets see some self respect restored.

I wouldn't put it as soft as you either. Insensitive tick. Foolish, maybe? Timing tick. Anti semtic no?
FGS what more did she have to say?
A whole race was subject to genocide, yet she ranks it on par with being called a "ginger nut"
A leopard doesn't change its spots. Add up all the racist gaffes she has said and she most definitely is "racist"

If she gets the whip restored, then Starmer may as well cut his own head off.

I have no idea where you’ve got this idea about Abbott being the next Home Secretary from Tricky. It’s ludicrous...she’s miles away from the Shadow Cabinet. Can only imagine you’ve somehow confused her with Yvette Cooper who seems to be favourite for the job should Labour win the next election.

Abbott has drawn attention to the difference in attitudes towards a variety of ‘minority groups’. In my opinion she didn’t do it very well, she spoke insensitively and has already apologised which probably only emphasises the stupidity of what she said. I cannot see how her comments were anti-Semitic however...perhaps you could explain.
