Thread: Romared Match Thoughts Barnsley v Ipswich Town

Finally Morsy is booked. He should have been off for the challenges on Phillips and Thomas. Horst off for a second yellow on Thomas. Shocking ref again.

Another refereeing league one masterclass tonight I see .

Games of this magnitude and they give it to yet another spanner .

Beaten by a very good side , possibly the best side ever at this level .

Not disgraced by any means but they were a step in front of us most of the night .

First half, if we had gone in 0-1 i think we would have done better but the second goal ended it….. enjoyed the atmosphere. Think the result was right. Fair play to them. They came and took their chances. We didn’t create any really.

Frailties in defence - that have been highlighted on here - are in full view.
As per - our last ball forward has been poor.
Kane having a better game - but still not doing enough.
    We are missing Connell.
    Nothing much between the teams.
We need changes from the start of the 2nd half.
    Tedic for Norwood.
L.Thomas for either Kane or Phillips.
    2nd Half
    Nowt much in it.
    Definitely not a 0-3 loss.
But it shows that other than Kitch our central defenders are good 1st Division players but are very unlikely to be good enough at Championship level.
As a footnote to that - if we do go up then there has to be a big turnover of players.

Ipswich have spent years preparing for this season - spending £££ millions - Barnsley on the other hand are in the process of consolidating after last season when the ship was breached below the water line - and as there was little to choose between the teams then it’s a good omen for the coming seasons.
    So I’m happy with that.
And to put the cherry on the cake - I’m further delighted that it looks like Wendy have missed out on automatic again.

I can see Ipswich being a force in the championship if they can hang on to their loan players.

On the subject of loan players are our loaners available for the play offs?

Ohh come on, if they were bottom of the league table, we'd still fail to beat them for goodness sake!.
But ok, it doesn't change the priority, which is the Play offs. I trust Micky Duff, and tonight's typical usual loss to Ippy Taarn doesn't change that.

The best team we have played this season by a country mile but my goodness they got just about every break possible.
The bar was set when Morsy escaped a certain yellow card early on.
Credit to them and Plymouth who can now manage the 100 point barrier which is a massive achievement.

A home record gone now for us before we hit the playoffs dust ourselves down and start again.

It could be worse we could have just lost at home to Accy a funny old game in it.

Doe anyone know if the referee managed a lift on the Ipswich team bus.

Is it just me but that game never felt like a 0-3 and I’ve seen plenty in my time.

    No it didn’t.
It could easily have swung the other way.
Which is very good news for Barnsley when you think that Ipswich have spent years in the 1st Division and spent £££ millions to enable them to get to this stage.
