It seems like it’s coached into them to pass the ball backwards at every opportunity, Furlong being the worst culprit, TGH could have passed the ball sideways to Townsend, passing backwards from virtually the half way line is negative football, it’s all rinse repeat, tippy tappy walking football going nowhere fast.
We don’t counter attack quickly, Sheff Utd at times played with 5-6 forwards, the gaps were there but we were too slow, it’s seems we have to make several passes in our own half before going forward giving teams chance to get back into shape.
You could bring on Brian the snail from the magic roundabout and it would speed play up
For all the good Corberran has done this slow play doesn’t work, it’s predictable and boring
That’s as I see it also Bomber buddy.
Clearly they are playing in accordance with their ‘Training Ground’ tuition, but on match day against smart opposition, we do not have the quality of player to accomplish such tactics.
Carlos has achieved great success in taking us from the bottom of the league to a potential top 6 side.
Disappointing to see Furlong continually and inevitably looking for the back pass, having collected the ball and moved some distance up the field. I considered he was an attacking threat back in the day and at that time I was critical of his disregard to defensive duties!
