    More from oor Jim.

"Hopefully I can fulfil what was the short term objective of keeping Dundee United in the Premiership and hopefully in the summer there will be discussions to be had with the board here because I have thoroughly enjoyed it.

"It is an ambitious club, it is a very well-supported club and it matches my own ambitions which is the most important thing."

Sometimes the fit between coaches and clubs just works. I have a good feeling about this.

It was another Jim, when asked at the end of his interview was there anything he would ask for if he got the job said "aye, a stopwatch, your players aren't fit enough"

I feel very strongly now that we should tie JG down to a two year contract at this point.

Show a bit of faith in him and commit him to the club.

Whatever division we are in he’s the man we want in charge for next season

Come on United get it down - no reason not to IMO

I feel the opposite. I do want him to stay, but I don't want anything distracting him, or the team, from the challenge ahead. The manager is fighting for a contract. The players are fighting for the manager. Let's not have anyone think they can take the foot off the gas just because the manager has succeeded in getting himself a deal.

It’s a matter of trust. Show that we trust him to do a good job and that we want him next season.

I don’t think the players are going to be less motivated to avoid relegation depending on the manager situation.

    Also it avoids uncertainty

Main thing is we want him as you say so let’s show that by signing him up

Faith in him will waver if we lose the next few games. As I've repeatedly said, this notion of everyone wanting him even if we go down is not shared by everyone. It has to be a contract offer that's based on success as far as I'm concerned.

Support would waver but even if we went down I think he’d still be the right man.

I think he’s shown enough and it’s time to commit now

Best manager we have had for a while imo

Thing is, he's more or less come out and said he wants to stay and will discuss it at the end of the season so why rush in?

I think the way forward is to have interim managers continually, sod handing out so many years of contracts for managers.
