    Today's marks [Match Ratings]

    Slocombe 7; Cameron 6 Baldwin 8 *MOTM (Brindley 6) Rawlinson 7 Chicksen 6; Nemane 6 (Jones 7) Bostock 8 Palmer 7 Austin 6 (O Brien 5); Rodrigues 4 Langstaff 5.
With 2 goals and a brilliant defence of his own error, Baldwin has to be the star player though Bostock ran him close. Had we lost, Ruben's showing would have been described as a 'mare and Macaulay made no significant inroads.

Langstaff was marked out of the game to be fair to him. Rubes had a very bad day at the office. Thank f### for Baldwin stepping up and having a crack at goal…. he had a few opportunities before his goal.

Palmer was outstanding in the second half and thoroughly deserved motm

    Match Ratings Vs Boreham Wood

    Slocombe 6
    Rawlinson 7
Baldwin 8 (-1 for switching off which led to Nemane's goal saving interception)
    Cameron 6
    Nemane 7
    Chicksen 6
    Palmer 7
Bostock 6 (hospital ball to Baldwin for their second)
Rodrigues 6 (so glad we pulled through so this wasn't potentially his last game - if it's going to end at least let it be with him curling one in from 20 yards at Wembley)
    Austin 6
    Langstaff 6

    Scott 6
    Jones 7
    Brindley 6
    O'Brien 6

Tried to be very pragmatic with those. Unbelievable character to come through that and a win is all that matters.

Slocombe 7 - key saves, solid distribution, better than you'd think
Rawlinson 6 - thought he avoided taking responsibility with the ball
Baldwin 8 - riding the Baldwin rollercoaster today, MoM
Cameron 5 - never really settled into the game
Nemane 6 - faded a lot in 2nd half after a very bright start
Chicksen 4 - didn't offer us much at all going forward
Palmer 7 - amazing stamina, never seems to tire
Bostock 6 - he wouldn't want to watch back his role in the two goals conceded, but never stops doing the thing he does well.
Rodrigues 5 - he'll be very unhappy about his performance, obviously didn't get himself in the correct frame of mind
Austin 6 - bright enough while he was on
Langstaff 6 - forced the issue to get himself some chances, needed to hit the target more

    Scott 6
    Jones 7
    Brindley 6
    O'Brien 6

I'd agree with these, except I'd give Jones an 8 for his time on the pitch - finally we had someone out wide willing to take their man on and get a ball over. He set up the equalizer and scored the winner - that's one mightily effective substitution.

Let's hope Ruben has his shooting boots on next week, though. Was anyone confident he was going to score that penalty after his three misses in the first half? I was definitely expecting him to miss.

Am I right in saying that the only outfield player who hasn't scored for us this season is Brindley?

I've had 45 years as a Notts fan and I've never experienced anything like the atmosphere in the ground for the second and third goals. Apologies if everyone's already posted Charlie Slater's reaction, but I'd love to make this my new ringtone:

Had we lost, it would be a real shame that Ruben 'potentially' left us on such a low. In the first half alone he should definitely have scored one, probably two, and possibly three.

He's way better than he showed today, let's hope he's saving it for Wembley.

Yeah, me too. Never thought he'd score for a second.

But there is a small point to make about what happened at Maidstone.
I loved seeing Pep go nuts the other night because Haaland gave the other guy the penalty kick for the hat-trick. "You take it' 'You take it' he kept shouting (when it was too late).
Ruben should have taken the kick at Maidstone and O'Brien should have said 'you're our penalty taker and it's more important for the team for you to see the ball hit the back than me to get a hat-trick.'
I've been thinking about this for 2 weeks, and now I know I was right.
