His two goal salvo at Wembley was his greatest feat that saw us return to the Championship. I recall going in the Hilton after the game and up to the rooftop where they had all assembled. Woody was laid on a chaise lounge type of sofa all battered and bruised and still in his kit, with his sons gleefully holding onto the trophy. These are the type of memories I can always reflect on.

One of his signed shirts from the season before hangs proudly framed on my man cave wall, when I told him of this he was very humbled to think anyone would go to those kind of lengths about him. A very warm, family man that just gave his all for our club.

I hope this thread gets a lot of replies, the man fully deserves the recognition. Surely TS can have something organised with a game like you mentioned. A pre season one off maybe?
We played Grimsby last pre-season,or it might have been season before time goes that quick.and whilst it was classed as a friendly and not a testimonial I think they saw off one of their long serving players they had released in the summer in a kind of celebratory way let him play, lead out the team, made him captain etc.think it was the goalkeeper.so maybe that’s way to go if nothing else can be done.

Unless he works in the club again and then it can be done properly..

Hard to believe he was frozen out and sent out on loan in his first few years isn’t it..

A true Millers legend, we don't get many like him, could even still do a job at 37 in the championship.
    Cheers Richard.

We could arrange a friendly / testimonial against the team he signs for.

Donny have just sacked their manager so if the rumours about him going there are true, the deal might be dead now.

I asked the same question on twitter in March.

Does Richard Wood merit a testimonial?

He’s been a great servant and captain in a couple of promotions and lifted a cup as a Miller.

    For me it’s a yes!

Warney did 19 over 2 spells. Playing, coaching and managing.
    Hursty did 15 years playing.

Ben wiles has been at the club for 10 years. But signed professionally 6 years ago.
