The above was the position prompting Styles to demand a release fee last summer prior to his loan move to Millwall.
His "new" contract, signed last summer containing the release fee, is until Summer 2025 but it allows Styles to leave at the level of his release fee at any time a club meets that valuation.

I understand what you are saying but it also means that he is contracted to us until 2025 & should we return to the championship he might want to hang around but of course there is the little matter of getting promoted first .

I believe the clubs policy since the moneyball system came into play is to sell players who don't want to be here.

I'd wager strongly that Styles fits that bracket.

Hypothetical situation....If we're promoted this season and say league 1 Sheffield Wednesday meet the buy out clause for Styles contract, what do you think he would do?

My guess is that he'd be down that A61 faster than Lewis Hamilton.

Let's face it though, this club is used as a stepping stone for players and managers alike. The club's hierarchy from Patrick Cryne to Paul Conway has created the situation and magnified it

Very few are ever going to have much sympathy for someone who bailed out of the club because it dropped in to league one when they witness their play off aspirations in tatters .

As Michael Duff said on his first day at Oakwell for those wishing to have a word about their futures elsewhere with him .

" if you are all championship players then how come the club's in league one and I'm here then ? " .

I care as much about Styles's future career as he cared about this club in league one and at least sticking around to try and at least amend last season's debacle and return us to the championship .

That goes for quite a few of em , Morris , Britain , Helik but I'll leave Woodrow out of it given his longer service and at least he did get us out of league one .

Players want to think of themselves and themselves only well it works the other way too with me .

I don't much care about you either , Morris , Helik , Britain and Styles were complete nobodies till they came here .

If i were Head Coach at Barnsley FC I would want Styles shifted out to another club this summer whether or not we are a Championship Club.

Styles has made his intentions clear about his desire to not be too arsed about put his heart and soul into playing for Barnsley.
