Don't know what quote you are referring to or where you got it from, but Planetsport quote the following from Allardyce;
Allardyce added: "Well, I left it how it used to be like before I got here. I mean, I haven't seen them take many penalties. "It is what it is. I would have thought if Rodrigo really wanted it he'd have gone and snatched it off Patrick and said 'I'm taking this'. "So you miss it, it can happen to anybody. It happened to us today but at the worst possible time. And that's very unfortunate for us."
Thats not referring to any "program of penalty takers", there are no such things, have a look and you will see its flipped between Klich, Bamford and Rodrigo), he's saying he didn't play a part in determining who should take penalties, nor is there any comment about not having enough time to digest things.
Allardyce may have done some stupid things, but he isn't stupid. Every man and his dog knows that Bamford is low confidence and under the cosh on just about every front, "digesting" that fact would take a nanosecond, and deciding to do something about it about as long. He could and should, have done more (having decided to play Bamford at all, when many commentators and fans would suggest that in itself was a wrong choice to make).
Obviously he (Bamford) took the penalty and missed, and he is unreliable, there's no "point" to make (or miss).
The fact remains that in one of the last three matches of this season, with us in the relegation zone and dependent on every point to try and survive in the PL, leading 1 - 0, and with a penalty that might just lead to a crucial three points, is it really credible to suggest that a player lacking in confidence and in a run of poor form should NOT have been challenged when/if he prepared to take it? THAT'S the point.

No it’s not and stop being obtuse (if that is possible).
He is the number 9 and grabbed the ball and Sam said he publically he is his number 9.
No one is going to grab the ball off him in those circumstances and cause an argument and wreck his confidence.
Rodrigo should have taken it but he was in an impossible position as Bambi got the ball and placed it on the spot. He should have let Rodders take it as he was the last player to score from the spot.
His poor form, lack of confidence and inability to be the player we need were the reasons he should have passed up - by grabbing the ball he made it pretty much impossible for anyone else to take it off him.
Irrespective - having put the ball down he needs to do better - unless the keeper for the wrong way that was such an easy pen to save - right height and not in the corner and not hit that hard. If you are short on form shape to place it in a corner and hammer it hard down the middle with a bit of elevation. (Listen to Shearer, Sherringham and Lineker talk about taking pens if you think I am making it up.
).
Compare and contrast with Wilson who buried both of his.
Bamford is not good enough, probably never had been, is too old to get better and has cost us maybe 5 points in 3 of the last 5 games - Fulham - Leicester - Barcodes.
5 points and we might already be safe but would certainly be in the box seat.
He seems like the kid at school who was crap but got occasionally picked to play and the rest of the team sighed at the thought of it.
At his age, on his salary he should be a leader that steps up - he is more like a shrinking violet that curls up and withers.
We are all pissed off with the situation but yet again you seem to just want to cause an argument on a stupid point.
If you love Bamford that much rather than you talking bollox again I will happily buy you a signed poster and a box of Kleenex and post them to you to save me from listening to this constant drivel.
It's an awkward situ. Not sure any team mate would want to discuss about taking responsibility off PB, as it can only worsen his confidence (if it's possible)
Stan or Robbie should have taken it off him albeit in the short time there (use taking pressure off him as an excuse)
Once he grabbed ball, no one is going to get into an argy bargy to grab ball.
Bamford (selfishly) probably saw it as his best chance to break his abysmmal form.
Thing is now he's missed it, he knows everyone is asking why he took it given the form he's in. What will happen if another one arises, as I have feeling he will be picked for next match
Picking him and Firpo are 2 bad decisions from Sam, who in a very short time has had some positives effects on the team.
Nope I really am not - you should look in the mirror a little more.
You are the cause of many people no longer posting on here.
You have variously;
compared me to Andrew Wakefield
Told me to leave the website when a relative died
Being vile and instilling
Wished the world would end
You PM’d me to say you though Oz was making his condition up
Not sure it is me who is unpleasant but I really don’t care what you think most of the time I just wish there was a ‘volume’ control.
You often make insightful points but this inability to let things go or desire to have people validate your opinion or agree with you is sad and often annoying when you won’t let it go.
Bamford is fcuking useless at the moment yet you seem to want to keep your love affair going with him or more likely just to be contrary.
You appear to dislike the fact I call you out more often than others when you just endlessly make the same boring stupid point ad infinitum. Simple solution try to stop spouting so much nonsense.
Kind of, but "leaving it like it was when I got here" is doing nothing, and abdicating responsibility in a situation that needed senior managerial input, and as there was (and is) no "program of penalty takers" (and let's face it assessing who would be better taking that particular penalty would be fairly easy!), it was entirely possible for Sam (or as WS says, Robbie (or perhaps Ayling as team captain)) to intervene and make it clear that someone other than Bamford was to take the penalty.
I agree with what WS said regarding Bamfords motivation, but the position the club is in makes it more important that the right decision on the penalty taker was made. It wasn't, obviously, and also as WS says, Bamford is in a worse place now than had he not taken it.
