Only just seen this news and quite a shock as 83 no age really these days, although I understand she had been ill for a while. Whilst she made some classic R&B records with Ike Turner, tbh, I never personally thought she was up there with the really great singers as a bit too much of a shouter. That said, "River Deep, Mountain High" -the Spector version not the more basic Ike & Tina one-is one of my all time favourite records and must admit to liking the "Private Dancer" album when it came out too. The excellent Angela Bassett biopic showed what a tough life she had to endure with her husband. Another cultural legend passes too soon. RIP Tina.
