Yesterday on talkSport they were anticipating that Wrexham would be facing a reality check and that they'd have to spend a lot more to be challenging again next season. Stockport aside, clubs that have gone up from the NL since we've been in it have struggled to make much of an impact, none have yet managed to get promoted to tier 3, so maybe they are right and this will also generally apply to individual players who haven't previously graced this level.

    Barrow
    2022/23 - 9th/24
    2021/22 - 22nd/24
    2020/21 - 21st/24

    Harrogate
    2022/23 - 19th/24
    2021/22 - 19th/24
    2020/21 - 17th/24

    Sutton
    2022/23 - 14th/24
    2021/22 - 8th/24

    Hartlepool
    2022/23 - 23rd/24
    2021/22 - 17th/24

    Stockport
    2022/23 - 4th/24

    Grimsby
    2022/23 - 11th/24
All but Stockport (and Grimsby) went up with asterix by their records! Barrow went up on PPG as they started to falter, Harrogate also took advantage of an empty Wembley.

Sutton had a plastic pitch and no fans nullifying the home advantage of fans.

Hartlepool are a boardroom basket case.

You could argue Grimsby had the rub of the green and arguably Wrexham should have gone up on quality.

Of those going up, only Stockport I would look at as a reasonable comparison

Isn’t Macca doing a job by drawing oppo defenders to him thereby allowing fellow attackers to er… attack?

One thing that’s in our favour this season is that, for once, the National League playoffs finished relatively early. Last season, Grimsby beat Solihull on June 5 and had to play their first EFL game on July 30. Given that, I’d say they did well to finish 11th.
Yeah definitely, also they finished 6th on 77 points which suggests they weren’t an especially great side even in the NL notwithstanding their somewhat flukey progression through the playoffs.

There’s no doubt in my mind that if we get recruitment right we could be right up there with a fair wind of luck and injuries. As Utm says, we don’t really do mid table consolidation.

Because those people like to moan. It really is as simple as that.

maybe a little more complex than that, like because because people want Notts to win?

Then last season they should have had very little to moan about seeing as Notts won 32 times in the league.

Have we ever won more..... ever?

Notts fans always enjoy a good moan, and given the standards we have set this year, I expect a whole lot more next year!

LaxtonLad was talking about people moaning about the slowing down of Macca's goalscoring rate, not moaning about Notts winning. Was that not clear?

Macca's goalscoring rate outside of the context of Notts games didn't attract many Notts fans complaints did it?
