I don't know what those 23 items were but in the real world that isn't true. I shop here every day and also shop online for my son in UK. That is NOT a true general reflection. It also needs to reflect incomes - higher in FR - and maybe take account of availability. We don't have veg shortages.

I have to say that on my return to the UK in March & April I was horrified at the state of the place. The roads WTF. There was massive pot holes on motorways! Expensive as well coming from me who lives in a very expensive country. Seems that the whole country is dominated by around 50 brands. A huge across the board decline. The heart and soul depleted.
Exactly the same sentiment here. Nothing seemed to work, quality of 'food' very poor, everything in a packet, services dire, litter everywhere. Seems like a race to the bottom in every area. Each time I return I feel less inclined to ever live there again. France has it's issues, bureaucracy, racisim, small-mindedness but there would be riots on the streets if it every became like UK now.
Litter, it's everywhere, stop off at Blidworth woods with the dog on way and returning from work and fly tipping around there.
Just been up Symonds yat rock, look over at the beautiful view and there's a drink can and chocolate wrapper, same by the beach in Pembrokeshire last week, its sickening what this country has become.
Sickening the amount of crap and litter everywhere… we went to Gran Canaria in January and the difference between there and here is unbelievable…
We drove from Cardiff airport on our return and every single major road between Cardiff and Newark was strewn with litter… fecking knee deep in parts. You don’t notice it in the summer as the grass and vegetation hides it all. It would take decades to clean up… there must be hundreds and millions of tonnes of it.
This country is fast becoming a real schit hole.
It's the fast food litter that gets me. What sort of scum throws bags of fast food litter out the car window as they drive along?
Wholly disagree.
I can only assume those saying this country is going to the dogs haven’t travelled very far, and that isn’t meant as a criticism. The roads, litter, corruption, environment, state of living, health care and social support around much of the globe is not a patch on the UK, not even close.
As far as patriotism goes, I’m not much of a tub thumper, but the UK has it good…very good. I know we have our problems but it is hard to see how good we have it without seeing much of the world….I love coming home to see how green the country is compared to a lot of other places. How civilised and accepting we largely are as a country can be seen as a weakness to some, but it is one of our greatest strengths.
Every country has its own percentage of Neanderthals who care about nothing, but they aren’t, or shouldn’t be, the face of a nation.
I have travelled a reasonable amount ( over 35 countries) and major pot holes on motorways in a first world country is shameful. I would expect it in Vietnam. I don't understand the comment about "how green our country is". There is 1000's of miles of green in India, China even Russia. I do agree on civilisation and acceptance. We also get the fast food littering here but not on the scale of the UK. It's shameful that it happens on that scale. Anyone who does it and gets caught should be publicly shamed and made to clear it up with a toothbrush. Perhaps the biggest pointer is that everything is getting worse. Health Care being the most obvious one. It is a dangerous path for such a major economy.
