The club can confirm that Martin Paterson has left as Assistant Head Coach to join Swansea City.

Arriving last summer, the 36-year-old linked up with the Reds to assist Michael Duff ahead of the 22/23 campaign.

Barnsley FC CEO, Khaled El-Ahmad, said: “We would like to thank Martin for his professionalism and commitment during his time at Oakwell and wish him the best of luck for the future.”

I am not being funny but what has this summers upheaval got to do with buying an early bird season ticket ? I wanted Duff to be here this season but I buy my ticket so that I can watch my team, watching my team is not conditional to who might come or who might go , players ,managers etc come & go and always have done but supporters stick with the team , thats the difference .

That’s entirely up to you shads. Watch em if you want, I did it for many years. What I don’t like is the salesmanship and marketing gimmick of early bird tickets being sold up until the annual mayhem begins. Then you’ve bought in to a season not knowing who you are watching but if you’re happy with watching anyone in a red shirt, fair play.

You once were a supporter Shad as I was but not today , you are a customer because football is about money now and very little else .

If you can work through that and still feel the same about the club and the game then fair do's .

I have to disagree with some of what you say Animal , we are all customers of some sort where ever we spend our money but I am with out a doubt a supporter of my club , interestingly my reply was about the early bird purchase which I believe in todays prices was really good value given that when I bought it there was still a conceivable chance that the same ticket might have been for championship football , I always look for value for money & the price for me is cheap at division one level never mind championship however the point I really wanted to make is that there are always ups & downs , comings and goings etc but my support & buying my tickets are not influenced every time some one is sold or someone moves on or we change manager etc , these things have always happened & always will with the only constant being the supporter , I came close to calling it a day with the west stand debacle but thankfully common sense prevailed although it left a sour taste but hopefully the club learned lessons from that , its not a case of forgive & forget with me more a realisation that the reds have been & still are more important to me than some temporary incumbents of our club , when they have moved on hopefully I am still alive and able to buy my early bird ticket for another season , time will tell .

Trouble wi thee Shads is that tha too positive.
    Tha needs to stop it.
(saying that, I hate sarcasm, so quickly moving on).

    Seriously - good post 👍.
Just one thing - I’d be extremely surprised if these owners move on in the near future.
Ok, there’s always the unexpected happening and a big offer coming in that they can’t refuse.
BUT - from what I’ve heard from the new leadership they are not here for the money.
    They have money.
They want something that they are interested in that they can get their teeth into.
As for the Crynes - they carry the torch for someone they love.

Nudger. If they aren't here for the money and they have money, then why the hell have they not paid up yet in full for the club that they purchased 5 and a half years ago?
