Np doubt we will start the season with the new signings not been match fit so we will be playing catch up on and off the field.

Big shout out to viktor for signing a new contract.

A championship quality player wanting to stay with us ..

WLB, are you aware that a lot of players contracts didn’t end while the 30th June? Therefore they’ve only had 12 days as of today, to view all that has been offered via their agents and other clubs like us.

Their Chairman is extremely wealthy so who knows how much liquid funds he’s got at his disposal?

“ Plymouth Argyle chairman Simon Hallett will increase his shareholding in the Championship club to 87% after agreeing to buy shares from outgoing investors.

US investors Argyle Green LLC, comprising of 12 people and three organisations, invested £4m for a 20% stake in the Pilgrims last August”

Unfortunately the Prem season commences a week later than the EFL
That is true but Premier League players are already signing for EFL clubs on loan

Put it through the books over 3 seasons. Sell players for 400k and put it through in one go and the result is nett zero.

Good point and it seems our strategy is not to create longer term liability but to take players on short-term contracts, potentially on higher salaries so our liability is managed season by season E.g. Morrison and Cafu

I can understand why the club take that strategy as it ensures better financial management over a longer term period

Plymouth isn't their ground capacity a few thousand more than here that creates more income '& size of that ground compared to the NYS would be a consideration when players look to move to their next club.

    Fair point
Maybe they hold onto their better players, and the ones that we want, for a little bit longer

Their number one keeper is out injured while September,..how dare they sign a new goalkeeper with an increase in revenue streams of around 6 million a year..!.

Did I say they shouldn’t? I was responding to the initial post which quoted 1 million which did seem steep , especially for a young keeper! Turns out it was a lot less than that…..

Plymouth's average home attendance last season in League 1 was in excess of 15,500. That's approximately 50% more than our average home attendance in the Championship so they're a much better supported club.
