Never mind about the game, we need the Pantone number of the blue for the shirts.
I’m not worried about this. I’m not sure we can also read anything in to partnership with McGoldrick either. They haven’t played a load of minutes together. 2 games against good quality opposition and the best part of 25 players being used over the 4 games we have played.
At this stage it’s too early to be writing any scenario off.
In terms of service to Macca, I’m not sure many of his 42 goals last season were from good service. I’d still like to see a target man play with ML so that crosses can be mixed up.
Folk, and you fall in to this category, have stated frustration with crosses not beating the first man. IMO this is because we do become predictable in that we don’t have that aerial threat. As such defenders know they need to defend the front post.
We we're at Telford, and our thoughts on Macca & McGoldrick was they might as well have come and sat with us in the stand, hope it's not
What's to come
That’s funny, I’d say pretty much all of his goals were the result of good service. He’s not a striker like Mullin at Wrexham who will create a goal out of nothing. ML’s been told to get into certain positions in the penalty area and other players will then get the ball to him.
I think your definition of good service is very different to mine. Yes there were goals where good service was provided, Cameron’s cross for the volley v Maidstone/Maidenhead which ever it was. Or the JoB cross on to his bonce to equalise v Cheaterfield. However, there were plenty of predatory finishes, other players shooting and him tapping in or the number of goals he scored from blocks/saves/ricochets. Next you’ll tell me Slocombes long ball v Cheaterfield was ‘good’ service. It was a good ball but Macca had plenty to do. I’m not arguing your point about the striker he is. I was merely pointing out Durhams lack of service concern. Especially as he moans about players like Nemane and Chickson not having a final ball. So not sure who has provided 42 quality passes or crosses for Macca to score his goals, I think a true number is between 15-20.
To be honest, i dont believe we should have signed DM. Given a chance Scott would have been the perfect partner. They seemed to know where each other was, and the goals followed. Our main priority however should have been to replace Ruben. Although we have recruited a couple of decent midfield players, i dont think for one moment that any of them will ever replace him.
I think signing DM has forced LW to change his tactics/formation to accommodate him, which although early days is clearly not working.
