I thought Bush were dead as a company?
    Cracking album to be fair!

Apparently Bush are still going and were bought by Sainsbury's in 2016, not that I've seen one of their products since I was a kid.

First record ever bought for me was the original 'Blondie' album.

First record I actually bought with my own money, if I remember correctly, was The Joshua Tree by U2.

In 1970 I bought my first 3 albums from Selectadisc when I started college at Trent Polytechnic. I can't remember two of them but one was The Pentangle by Pentangle, who I'm sure nobody else remembers. They were a folk/rock band, but more folk than rock. I recall hitch hiking down to London with a mate to see them live, then sleeping on the floor at St Pancras station before getting the train back next day.
Could be worth something that DEVO picture disc?
My friend Roger had it in green vinyl - which reminds me:
A year or two later I somehow acquired a Ramones 12" EP "Shena is a Punk Rocker" and since it was not exactly my 'glass of tea' I simply gave it to Roger. Found out many years later it was worth a small fortune!

Anyroadup what a fantastic record shop(s) Selectadisc was.
I started my life-long obsessions by buying dirt cheap 2nd hand LPs there...
Prog Rock, German Electronic music and, uh, Steely Dan.

It's a good album that. Like 60's pop slightly punkified. Most kids at my school started with 'Plastic Letters' and thought that was their first.

I've also got a S ex Pistols 'Never Mind The B ollocks' picture disc, and the original PIL Metal Box triple album. Both are on ebay for £100 or more.

I really should sell them because when I'm gone the wife and kids would probably bin them!

Great album, great band. Through presents or purchase I got all all their albums from the 70s/80s era: Plastic Letters, Parallel Lines, Eat to the Beat, the underrated Autoamerican, and The Hunter. I also bought their first comeback album, No Exit, which was good, but not so keen on their recent stuff (apart from one song, Long Time, which stands up to their best).

As I said on another thread, I'm a huge Blondie fan but it's sad to see them these days, way past it and trampling over their legacy. I kind of understand why they're doing it because they got screwed out of their earnings in their prime years, but I hope youngsters seeing them today look on YouTube and realise they were infinitely better back in the 80s - especially Debbie Harry's voice.

YouthQuake by dead or Alive. I know - bad.

my most prized record is the original release of Creep by Radiohead on 12 inch EP before they re-released it and got famous. Used to be a regular Thursday Night free band at Loughborough Uni when I went there. Worth a bob or two.

To be fair to Debbie Harry, she is 78 and probably never envisaged still performing these songs live as she approaches 80. One of the oldest jokes I remember is someone rushing into the classroom one day and saying “Debbie Harry’s dead! She was found hanging on the telephone!” Agree with you that “Long Time” is a great song.
