A Message from Chief Executive Officer, Khaled El-Ahmad.

Ahead of the new season, Chief Executive Officer, Khaled El-Ahmad speaks to all supporters as we look to go one better in 23/24.

    Reds,

As we approach the dawn of a new football season, I write to you today with great excitement and optimism for what lies ahead for us as a Club. We have come a long way over the last 18 months or so, and it's time to unite once again and rally behind the players as we kick off the season this Saturday at Oakwell against Port Vale.

The power of your support cannot be underestimated. You, the heart, and soul of Barnsley FC, have demonstrated unwavering loyalty, lifting our team to achieve against the odds. Your passion is unrivalled. We need only to look at our last competitive fixture, on the grandest of stages. Outnumbered, but that was a performance of giants in the stands and on the pitch at Wembley. We refuse to let those disappointing final few seconds dictate our mindset.

As we start the season at home against Port Vale, let's turn Oakwell into a cauldron of noise. Remember that your role as a supporter goes beyond being a spectator; you truly are the 12th man on the field, and together, we can drive our team to victory.

I am pleased that we have made a number additions to our squad during the summer transfer window. We have worked diligently to bring in players who share our vision and passion for the game. These new signings, along with our existing core, will hopefully form a formidable unit that will make all of us proud during the coming campaign.

It would be remiss of me not to thank our new Head Coach, Neill Collins and his Assistant, Jon Stead. They’ve made what could have been a challenging transition a simple process, and left me even more confident that we’ve appointed the right team, complementing our already quality coaching staff.

Beyond the pitch, we are continuously striving to improve our Club in every aspect. From youth development to community engagement, we are committed to building a strong foundation for the future. The recent rebranding of the Barnsley FC Community Trust is just another example of what we are all working hard to achieve. Your support and backing make it all possible, and we are grateful for the faith you place in us.

To finish, if you haven’t already joined over 9,000 supporters in buying a Season Ticket, then I’d urge you to join us here on August 5. Together, let's create an atmosphere to be proud of. Towards the end of last season, Oakwell was rocking. Let’s not take our feet off the pedal.

On behalf of the entire Club, from staff to players, I extend my heartfelt gratitude for your steadfast support. Let's make the 23/24 season a memorable one, filled with unforgettable moments. We are Barnsley FC, and together, we will rise.

    Go Reds!

    Khaled.

    Yep.
No news in the statement - just a rallying call before the start of the season - which is fair enough.

Over 9000 ST sold - which is a bit disappointing.
IMO we should be selling around the 12k mark.
But what can we expect after the recent turmoil at the club.

"The power of your support cannot be underestimated".

Am I reading this wrong?. Shouldn't it read "overestimated", or a better word "overstated" as in

"The power of your support cannot be overstated"

The rest is just a string of cliches which could well have been done by an Artificial Intelligence word package. "Bullsh1tter, write me a standard pre season rallying cry".

The "Go Barnsley" at the end made be cringe. We are not Americans.

The "big news" about the lease with Oakwell Holdings (Council and Crynes) allowing the "possibility" of plans to refurbish West Stand still not through solicitors/ legal process.

Not sure why you would think we should be selling 12000 tickets as we struggled to sell that when we were in the championship , 9000 tickets for the third division is truly excellent & I am not disappointed at all, curious Nudge , are you back watching them or are you still in exile ?

They would sell many more if they got the missing fans (inc me and family) back on side.

As they seem incapable of acting in an open and honest manner then the number of attendees will be supressed.

Has it ever been announced how many of the 9000 are £10 for the season Kids Tickets (Under 14's) ?. If I had a kid or kids in that age bracket I would get one/ two for the seat(s) next to me. Does it help to explain the gap between published "attendance" and those actually there ?

I don't think the message from our beloved CEO told us anything we didn't already know. Its just noise for noise sake. What does nark me, and I know its just a petty little thing, is the signing off with Go Reds. Surely it should be "C'mon you Reds" or the shortened "You Reds". Go Reds seems so Bob Lasso to me. Just another Yank expression being used by our international owners.
    Go Reds, on three, 1..2..3..

9k is a good effort imo. Fair play to all that have parted with their brass 👏
