If you read the new parking rules they are actually reducing the capacity for disabled fans in North Isla Street as it's only the East side of the street that's allocated, previously both sides have been used.
What kind of funster esq defence is "played there since 1909"? Technically, United has had 4 owners since i moved here, and god knows how many times that funny lot have changed hands, but adminsx2, so extending your logic, i claim an entitlement to the longer tenancy! Still a few cling on that have been here longer than i with Bow being the only apparent constant at United in that time, but has he been employed by the club continually since he stopped playing? And i know what you will say about moving here, but really?

I dont understand why you are pointing out to me that Disabled Parking Capacity is being reduced having written in the post you quoted.....

"going back to the Blue Badge holders, there should be proper facilities between both grounds where supporters from home and away can book as part of their arrangements to enable their attendance.

About time, but more could be done."

....unless you didnt bother reading it! But if you want to make the case, message me and i will give you the Councillors i pestered to request the permit scheme!

But like Stoke mentioned, there will be some spare ground available in twenty-never!

Fair enough, sounds like you live close by which must be a right pain in the arse. The point I'm making is you (or whoever) moved there knowing fine well the football clubs have been there long before you.

Regardless, you think it's right the result of the council intervention is that folk, like me, that struggle to get around may now have to park large distances from the grounds on match days?

Cmon tae Terry! What do you not understand about "going back to the Blue Badge holders, there should be proper facilities between both grounds where supporters from home and away can book as part of their arrangements to enable their attendance.

About time, but more could be done."

Your coming over as a bit sanctimonious with your point as we cant all be lucky enough to live in Angus!

Lived in Dundee most my life, 99% of my working life in Dundee, and seen as i had relatives and their friends who spent most of their lives in the same street as we later chose, it was a no brainer for me to live where i still am, and a bonus for every second weekend. For over a decade, i had no problems parking my car in my street, even on match day and i would even encourage friends to park here as well. But areas change and i struggle at times to park when i get home from work. The argument to the Councillors from my point of view was residents should not have been restricted in what they did between 8am to end of game for an event covering 3 hours, then fined for it!

And no! If you read the quote above correctly, you will see i do not think that it is right that people like yourself have to loose close assess to the ground. But maybe you need to look beyond the poor wee me and think there could be other reasons for the reduction of parking on N Isla Street as i have serious doubts it has anything to do with the Permit Scheme? I could think of a number of things right away that are more to do with the uglies support than a street with no residential properties, but i see why it would be included in the notification for this scheme?

So whats available that the Council can look at if you want to make a fuss in the right places, and i encourage you to do so and will provide the names of Councillors who listened to me if you message.

Fairbairn Street - Industrial unit parking, Dens Road Primary car park(used by players on matchday?), School markings area.
Tannadice Street - Create a Blue Badge car park between the 2 grounds, gated industrial unit parking(used by directors?), Gussie car Park.

Some things there that the Council have control of, and if you can travel that wee bit further, then another couple come into play.

I was born and brought up in Dundee, Mill O' Mains to be precise. Went to Linlathen High School and Abertay University. I currently work for a company based in Dundee City centre. But so what?

I fail to see why the council feel reducing blue badge parking capacity can be a good idea. Why wouldn't I be concerned about this? It affects me directly.

I am minded to say our paths have crossed at some point!

I am very well aware that this affects you directly, and for some reason you appear to be missing that i share your concerns, but as i did in my quest to get this permit scheme implemented, i encourage you to get in touch with my areas local Councillors and plead your case! Also get in touch with both clubs to point out the detrimental effect this issue will have on you. Maybe the place for Blue Badge parking is behind the Provie?

When you look for reasons as to why capacity has been reduced, put that Blue Badge in your pocket for a few minutes and look at the situation from an angle that does not include your disability. Think along the lines of the position of N Isla Street in relation to Tannadice, emergency access, access for sizeable away support and add in the equipment for broadcasting. You very quickly have a recipe for a disaster that i really do not want repeated, never minding what clubs support is involved!

I therefore think its just a coincidence that we are being informed about Blue Badge parking arrangements in non residential N Isla Street through the Residents Permit Scheme for the wider area.

But as i have already alluded to, you take from somewhere, you should have to add in provision elsewhere.

I think you may be misunderstanding me a little, probably my fault. My beef isn't with local residents campaigning to make their lives easier it's with the local council for restricting the availability of blue badge parking, especially in a road (North Isla Street) that has very few residential properties, if any.

Definitely seems like they've made a James Blunt of it. North Isla St has no residential properties yet they've restricted blue badge holders to one side of the street. The other side is closed off.

There are businesses within the zone who are being forced to park elsewhere. They can't apply for permits.

They have also only sign posted the entrance point around the perimeter of the parking zone. The individual streets within the zone have no warning signs. This is going to catch loads of people out, especially away fans. DCC probably know this though.

Like i said above though, i am not convinced that future restrictions in N Isla Street are anything to do with the Permit Scheme and more towards safety concerns.
